Alex, I have a question concerning the dimensions in SST. My understanding is that most of them are found at the tiniest scales. Does this mean they are in some way fractal, and if so, could you INFER something reasonable about some kind of super-dimension despite the observational breakdown at the event horizon of the BB singularity? In other words, is there any possibility of unifying all the dimensions under a single principle or mathematical relationship, say it's turtles all the way down, and then extend that principle upward as well?

Or am I just talking out my ass?

Just read a bunch.  I'm actually terrible at algebra and anything in math more advanced than that.  So not being able to do the math, I'm not a physicist.

I had a fun time at the defense contractor, however, when with just a 2 year tech degree and a heap of real world experience, it turned out I was smarter than 2/3 of the engineers there.

To this day I remain amazed how many of them were illiterate too.  How the hell someone gets a 4 year degree, and then winds up working at an aviation/aerospace fortune 500 company and can't write a coherent sentence describing what they're working on is a total mystery to me.

One of the smarter engineer/supervisors went to a seminar on radioisotopes and their use in wear monitoring and came back all giddy about what can be done with that technique and as he started to tell the rest of us about it, I interrupted and said "so you would know which piston slipper on the fixed unit was wearing out faster than the others just by an assay of the lube oil"  and rendered him speechless.

"How the FUCK do you do that ?!?!?!?"  He finally screamed.  I just grinned and went back to my desk.

Hell, the name of the seminar was all I needed to figure out what he'd been told at the seminar, and having worked there a year, I knew the biggest trick that technique could ever do for the company was IDing specific piston slippers that were wearing down abnormally fast.  Jesus, Larry thought he'd looked behind the curtain of God's creation for that nibble, and for me, it's just business as usual.

In a place like that, you only have to do something like that about once every 90 days or so to have a rep for having Buddha enlightenment on the products we're making.


I worked out the universal average failure rate for all the company products one day (2.53*) and was revered as a God after that . . .
