After An Atheist Dies

A TV docu featured an atheist funeral about 6 (?) years ago, I can't remember the details but it was a simple home-made "hole in the ground" affair in the corner of a field attended by a few friends.
A TV reviewer said in the paper next day- "Poor X, buried like a dog.."

That says far more about the TV reviewer's character and prejudices than about the funeral.

I've arranged for my body to be donated to medical research at a teaching hospital, with cremation to follow.

They bury dogs? I hope it's not in the pet sematary...
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Those are my wishes as well.  If any part of my body can help someone else, cool, go for it.  I won't care because I'm dead.  Otherwise, I don't want my remains to waste any space.

I think you'd care (in a positive way) if it was to help someone you knew and loved who needed a transplant or something. But only if you found out before you were dead, I guess. That can always help bring a little more peace of mind in the end.
