'Not saved' is not the same thing as 'doesn't believe in hell'. He preached almost entirely to Jews, remember? (waits for GC to reply with something that doesn't contradict 'almost entirely')
They go hand in hand. Of coarse He taught primarily to the Jews, there were Roman citizens and many other nationalities in Israel at the time and I'm sure that some of them would have at least a passing interest. Jesus himself said He came to the Jews first then the gentiles.
Godscreated Wrote:I do not need to go back and read it because it doesn't matter whether unbelievers believe in hell or not and how do you know those people believed in hell, secularism wasn't invented by modern man. Jesus message was to the entire world not just to those He was teaching at the time.
MisterA Wrote:But my point is that he didn't threaten hell to people he was teaching to at the time, who didn't believe in hell. The NT doesn't have any stories about Jesus preaching to secularists.
So you believe all Jews at that time believed in God, for me I highly doubt it, a majority yes. Israel today is more secular than it is a religious nation and it wouldn't surprise me if a good many were not atheists. Jesus taught hell as a punishment for not believing He was who He said He was. Matthew 25:46 Jesus says,"And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." He taught this to the disciples, He also taught this Matthew 25:41 Then He will say to those on His left,"depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." This was right before Passover. Then before His ascension to the father he told them this, Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of The Holy Spirit, teaching them all i have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always until the end of the age." Not only did Jesus teach hell to the disciples He told them to teach it to the nations that did not know of hell.
Godscreated Wrote:Sure they are, there is always two sides and hell is justified because there is a reward. If the unbelievers are not punished for their sins what makes it worth the effort to find salvation. Could it be that I with no doubt of the reality of hell am concerned for you. My reasons for witnessing is not to scare people but to show them that a life with God is worth having, I speak about hell because it is real and it is the alternative of an eternity with God. I've never tried to convince you God speaks to me, I know you do not believe in God so I understand you wouldn't believe me, though I do share that he has spoken to me. You will find it a rare case where I would tell you about what God has said to me because much of it is for me alone, relationships do work that way you know.
MisterA Wrote:An eternal reward is also not justified. There is no finite good you can accomplish that merits infinite reward, just at there is no finite evil you can commit that merits infinite punishment.
You are right, no one can do enough to receive an eternal reward from God, our eternal reward comes from who Christ is and what he did, that's why acceptance of Him alone is the only way to that reward.
The evil one does is always infinite unless it is forgiven through the acceptance of Christ as savior. The evil done is first and foremost against God and unless He through Christ's sacrifice and His grace forgives one of all those evils then hell is the result. Sorry but that is the way God planned it and no one can change God's eternal plan. So both are justified, the reward is a gift and the punishment is one's choice.
MisterA Wrote:And certainly neither can justify the other. The former amounts to a nice gesture of giving you infinitely more reward than you deserve, while the latter is an infinitely malicious vengeance that is infinitely more punishment than you deserve. Justice is getting what you deserve, getting more or less is not justice, by definition.
God's definition of justice will stand through eternity, man has no say in how God judges each person, it's His right as the Creator. An eternal reward is not a nice gesture, it comes by grace (unmerited love) through belief in Christ. God does say He will take care of the vengeance for His people, however that doesn't include hell, that is a choice you or (anyone else) makes who rejects Christ. Those who accept Christ as savior will receive heaven, those who reject Christ will receive hell, both are choices and each has a consequence.
MisterA Wrote:If you're concerned for me, start by convincing me the creator and sustainer of the universe is advising you. Every time you misread my motives or use scare tactics, it gives the opposite impression. If you convinced me you've got more going for you than just being another guy ranting on the internet, that would be something at least. It would be the most you could possibly do online. If you seemed to have something more than human feeding you your lines, that would be remarkable. But you don't seem much different than a Muslim doing the same thing. And if you can't be troubled to convince me that God talks to you because I wouldn't believe you, why trouble yourself with the hell business? It's the exact same logic. And you don't do anything at all to make it seem like you have a life that it would be desirable to emulate. If I pray hard enough, I get to be a guy who rants about hell on the internet and thinks he can't be wrong about why people disagree with him? Why would I want to sign up for that?
Would my telling you what God has said to me at times be believable to you, I doubt it. Here's your response, that's just you telling me a story what would make me believe such stuff. You need to tell me what it will take for you to believe and my response will be take it to God for He is the only one who can save you. Remember some posts back when you, I think it was you, that the rich young man called Jesus good and Jesus asked him why he called Him good. Jesus then told him that no one is good except God. Do you remember my response to what Jesus said? Jesus was telling the young rich man that He was God and to follow God he would need to put away all those things that would hold him back. The young man couldn't find it in himself to sale those things and left. That story is not just about how hard it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God, though that is what Jesus mainly used it for in teaching His disciples. Riches can be many things and there is one thing most people are rich with, the self, and this riches is the worst kind, that's why God says one must have a contrite heart and humble attitude when they accept Christ as their savior. God had to pound the self out of me over and over after I was saved because I let it creep into my new life again and again, you can bet i do my best to keep it at bay now. Know where I heard this, from God!

(sorry, pulling out a single quote from all of these long posts - too much trouble. I just copy-pasted.)
If your gawd was 1/2 as capable of communicating its existence, message, and desires as a 10-year-old on Facebook, then there would be no atheists, not even "hard-nosed" ones. There would be no disagreement on what the "scriptures" say or mean. The deity would have provided clear evidence of an afterlife - the first ever in human history. There would be no religious divisions. In fact, there would be only one religion - the only one on Earth that has ever had any real proof of the deity's existence. And no, old fairy tales in an old book are not "proof".
I value my free choice and it seems more so than the atheist here. You need to remember that all the Christians here were at one time unbelieving as well. We chose to seek and chose to accept what we found. God gives you the same choice, seek and accept.
GC
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Funny I believe the same about evolution. Indoctrination by any sort is not a good way, let lone fear. Indoctrination means there's something to sale (yes there are Christians who sale Christianity and I do not agree with there tactics), Christianity is not for sale, period.
Are you trying to say that teaching evolution should be a felony?
If so, for the sake of consistency you should refrain from using things that were developed with the help of evolutionary biology -- for example, antibiotics. Otherwise we'll have to charge you as an accessory after the fact.

Why is he here if he thinks we will never believe his testimony? Is he just here to get that warm, persecuted feeling? I don't want him to leave, but when he does, I hope he remembers to shake the dust off of his feet.

Funny...indoctrination is the same as education to the close-minded. Explains a lot.

He creates evil, plans for it to be unavoidable, says it's a infinite slap in the face to him, and so punishes for eternity.
THIS is something worth worshiping?!

Why should we believe that god has talked to you? Would you believe any other deity talks to anyone else? No.
And you know what, not believing, but accepting, the existence of god would take. It's put out there in almost every post. Objective, falsifiable evidence, independent of the bible. You know it doesn't exist, so why do you think we'd all of a sudden decide it's all true?

I have been separated from Gods presence here on earth and I cant even describe what it's like, but let me tell you that He loves everyone very much. Its like I don't exist anymore. My spirit's GONE. dead. I'm literally just existing in the flesh with no Love in me. I know I'm going to hell, and its just like the bible says those who reject him will be aware of their coming judgement. I cant stress it enough how important it is to Accept Jesus. Having no soul is like complete apathy, but not really because I cant feel anything. I just process everything around me. No enjoyment, satisfaction, nothing good. Just like the bible says everything good comes from God and it is so hard to describe what having no love, faith, or hope in you at all is like. I just exist, but I don't. I'm just waiting, and I'm aware that I'm going to hell, but it doesn't bother me, because only through love can you truly care about anything. All that's in my heart is wickidness. You know how when you think about past memories or do things you like and you get this good feeling, I have nothing. The dead know nothing. Its indescribable. All I can say is I cant stress enough how much Jesus loves all of you, and that he accepts you just how you are right now. If you can Love at all even a tiny bit, that's all he needs. Trust me when I say anything in this life is nothing compared to what will be waiting for you in heaven. I have no intuition anymore, I have no identity, and I don't mean that to sound dramatic I mean literally. Its like things I used to enjoy and hate I remember that I did like the, but I cant feel it. Nothing, youd think I would freak out, but without a soul it doesn't matter. I cant freak out, because that would require some sort of goodness to actually care. I know it sounds just like depression and apathy, but its not. Its just NOTHING.
It's tough to imagine caring about anything that makes anyone feel so bad.

If Satan were real, he still doesn't deserve infinite punishment. Maybe more than anyone else, but not infinite punishment for his finite crimes.
One He is not being punished infinitely. He is currently wandering this world, and as far as we know has never set foot in Hell. But He is an infinite being. His crimes are not finite.
Quote:And if a third of the angels in heaven rebelled, how great can heaven be, and how can we be sure of eternal salvation in heaven, when it's possible to be in heaven and rebel against it?
2/3 stayed... I'd say by majority vote Heaven is what it's supposed to be.
Gotta ask yourself why did they/he leave?
He wanted to be God. fooled alot of angels that they too were gods, and far better to reign in hell than serve in Heaven.
In is way God is like a Mr.Miyagi or the other way round..

God has us serve.. God has them serve... The heavenly version of painting the fence, sanding the floor, washing and waxing cars, whatever it maybe I sure it is a lot of hard and tedious work. all the while we are building something bigger. although we often times can not see what we are building God can see the big picture. This is why 1/3 left. they/angels were like Daniel-san in the clip. they want to go fishing, or really do anything besides wax on wax off. They want their reward now/They God to just 'matrix upload katate' rather than earn it by the hard work.
But God knows if you never had money the worst thing that can happen to you is to win the lottery. That is what all the serving is about, now. so when we do get the pay off God has in store we know how to enjoy it rather than have that thing destroy us. like it destroyed Lucifer and 1/3 of the angels.
