That is not the word on the street in Britain. I am English as well old bean. The word on the street round this way is that the finally symbols of oppression are being removed and racists are trying to keep their oppressive symbols so they can feel better about trying to oppress. Don't think of them as statues, think of them as swastikas next to a synagogue.
