How Catholic was Hitler?

How Catholic was Hitler?
As a devout Catholic, I have some real problems with people saying Hitler was "one of us"

It is extraordinarily shameful and embarrassing to hear that kind of shit coming from peoples lips, and quite frankly not even correct.

First of all, I don't think Hitler was an atheist. He said much to the effect of God being on his side, though I think he meant more destiny and the universe rather than Jehovah himself.

True he was baptized into the Catholic Church in his little town in Austria. But practically all gentile Austrians at that time were Roman Catholic. If Hitler were born in Denmark, he would have been Lutheran, and Anglican if he had been born in England.

What Im saying is one's degree of adherence and respect for one's faith surely matters instead of none at all.

Hitler didn't even reference his love for the Catholic faith when on the campaign trail, more just his reverence for Jesus/Christinaity in general (I suppose it was must given how a slight majority of Germany was Protestant at the time Dodgy.)

Kind of terrible that he basically won the Christian vote, but that is a topic for a different time.

Did he ever evidence Catholic devotion outside of the campaign trail/public events? Did he and Eva Braun, the woman he lived in sin with ever go to bible studies or say the rosary? Id love to see any evidence that they actually did.

There were plenty of Catholic shrines in occupied Europe at the time. Why didn't the Nazis ever organize pilgrimages to see them in stead to their drunk, degenerate icons such as Horst Wessel and others? Dodgy

My main point is that Hitler's nominal Catholicism was incidental, as opposed to the driving force behind his anti-semitism and shiftiness in general.

Nazism was at its core a materialistic philosophy, concerned with the material only as opposed to the spiritual. What it wanted was just the supremacy of the Nordic (Northern European race), the enslavement of the Eastern Europeans to achieve that end, and the elimination of European Jewry( apparently a liberalizing, cosmopolitan force.)

I am fairly certain the source of Nazi anti-semitism was not the Traditionalist Christian variety, but the more modern version of the Zionist/Rothchild cabal of world finance  trying to undermine and destroy the "Goy"  Dodgy.

I don't believe he viewed the Pope as a friend, and he and many high ranking Nazis were frustrated and suspicious of the Catholic Church, since it was an entity that they could never control (unlike those poor fragmented Protestant ones.)

I believe one has to somewhat adhere to Catholic doctrine in order to be a Catholic in a meanginful, serious way.

Is there any evidence Hitler's Catholicism was something he took seriously and loved, or was it just some sort of tribal identification which he never gave much of a thought (the latter is depressingly common in todays Catholic world.)

For being a devout Catholic he sure was mean and cruel to his fellow Catholics. How do you explain this scene and a devoutly Catholic Hitler?

I sure hope those nuns weren't sent to Dachau!

RE: How Catholic was Hitler?
He was as catholic as he needed to be in order to gain the acquiescence of the of the german catholic magisteria.

Conveniently, that's as catholic as anyone ever has been. Catholics have -never- shied away from being "mean and cruel" to fellow catholics. There have always been "shrines" - but that's never stopped catholics or catholicism from drunken pagan debauchery..or the inclusion of the same into "catholicism". You're certain, as catholicism is certain.....that somehow, it's all the zionist jews fault. You think he could have never controlled the pope..but, ofc, popes have been routinely controlled...and this assumes that the pope wasn't a nazi waiting in the wings anyway.

You believe that one has to adhere to catholic dogma in some "serious and meaningful way"....but who does, and how would you know? Is there any indication that catholics en mass take their catholocism "seriously", as more than a tribal ID - and what would that mean anyway?

Good luck.

Whether or not Hitler was a "true" Catholic matters less than how many Catholics were Nazis. He needed help to slaughter millions.

He was catholic enough to have the support of the church, as far as I know. I think most claims that he was catholic are meant to counter claims that he was atheist. He certainly didn't think he was an atheist.

If he ever identified as a catholic (appears that he did) and never renounced, he was a catholic. End of story.

Welcome and have a good day!

Why do you think taking Catholicism seriously would have prevented Hitler from doing terrible things? Look at the numerous Catholic priests who molest the children in their own congregation, pretty sure they where serious Catholics.

I'm no expert, but I think we atheists mainly talk about Hitler being a catholic as a rebuttal to the claim he was atheist.
If we wanted to put down catholicism, there is plenty of other ammunition.
In the fourth last paragraph you misspelt meaningful and I'm not being a grammer nazi (see what I did there?), but I like the way it becomes mean, ginfull and serious. :-)
Personally, I think the best thing to come out of catholicism was the tv show 'Father Ted'. :-)

When you can just sit down in a confessional and have a priest give you some easy homework like a few Hail Marys to sweep your bad behaviour under the rug, I don't see much incentive to behave better.

It would prevent Hitler from doing the sort of terrible things he did such as.

1. Living in sin with Eva Braun.

2. Having a massive military brothel system for his soldiers on the eastern front, endangering their souls and harming the souls and bodies of thousands of Polish and Soviet women.

3. Requisitioning the Paris brothels. A tawdry tid bit of WW2 history is that the German officers requisitioned all the high-class brothels and Paris, and denied the Frenchmen any access to those shameless trashy women who worked in those institutions. I don't recall a single instance where the Wehrmacht officers decided to make decent women out of them.

4. Killing many Polish Priests, and religious. If the Nazis gave a darn about their immortal souls why would they persecute such men (and women of God)

5. Killing Edith Stein. This is one Jewess who saw the light. Yet the light did not save her from Hitler's darkness:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edith_Stein

6. Generally showing a cruel, grotesque disregard for human life and the dignity of the human person.

There are many many more violation of Catholic dogma he commited. Will be providing them soon
