Last hour the track of the hurricane has turned North and crossed the Florida straits.  Let's hope everyone dumb enough to remain in the Florida keys now has exceptional good luck.  They will need it.

RE: Hurricane Irma
I've been making my friends check in with me every now and then. I'll probably make them do it until they lose power. I don't subscribe to any sort of tv service so I can't keep track of where the eye is and I don't have the time to do it today with errands and stuff I need to get done.

I hope they will be okay. I wasn't thrilled they chose to stay and I can't wrap my head around why anyone would choose to do so, but they are in their late 60's and they live life as they please... guess if you're gonna go out... a cat 4-5 hurricane is the way to go. Sad

If they're up by Daytona they should be fine so long as they've prepared appropriately. It's predicted to be Cat 1 - Cat 2 by the time it gets there. I've got a bud not too far from there, in Deland.

A certain beloved forum member's parents live in Deland. I hope we get a check-in from him soon.

As far as things here in Leesburg, it's raining and pretty windy right now. We're expecting it to start picking up in an hour or so. Fingers crossed the roof won't blow off my mobile home in Fruitland Park.
