Epicenter is estimated near Tapachula, perhaps 50 miles off shore.
Tsunami warnings issued. 3 meter/10 foot waves expected. Tremors felt hundreds of miles from epicenter.

Calif. is probably overdue for a big quake. Hospitals here in San Diego are being torn down and rebuilt due to new seismic architecture standards as of 2017.
