I would smile and nod and then just do whatever you think best for yourself. Because as a father I can tell you, fathers (and mothers, really) don't legitimately get, and should not legitimately expect, input into your adult love life.
As to your sexual proclivities, you'll sort those out. You may not be a 1 or a 5 on the Kinsey scale, but have at least mild bisexual tendencies. Nothing says it's a binary matter. Read up on it, and take it slow ... you have plenty of time to figure yourself out.
