An ultraconservative Spanish bishop and exorcist has quit to start a new life with his partner - a divorced author of erotic satanic novels.

Caballol's books include titles such as The Hell of Gabriel's Lust and the trilogy Amnesia. In the blurb for one of her works, the reader is promised a journey into sadism, madness and lust and a struggle between good and evil, God and Satan with a plot to shake one's values and religious beliefs.

Italian Priest Arrested for Stealing $117K from Church to Pay for Drug-Fueled, Lavish Gay Orgies

Father Francesco Spagnesi, 40, a highly regarded priest from Prato, Italy, has been placed under house arrest while police interview 200 people who reportedly attended his lavish orgies over the past two years.

The two men are alleged to have used online dating sites to invite guests to their home, where drugs were used and sold. In the raid on Spagnesis's apartment police found bottles that had allegedly been adapted for smoking crack cocaine.

When Spagnesi was no longer able to withdraw money from the church's account, he allegedly began taking money from the collection plate and soliciting money directly from parishioners, who were told he was raising aid for poor families.

Catholic Church involved into child labour in Uganda

Earlier this year, Mr Turyaritunga made allegations to the BBC about child labour taking place on Church-owned land in Kabale.

He alleged that children as young as 10 were working on a tea plantation on the land, and that the Catholic Church was profiting.

When we arrived in Kabale, we were introduced to a supervisor at the enterprise who spoke to us on the condition that we kept his identity secret.

The supervisor told us that children did work on the farm.

Their pay ranged from 1,000 Ugandan shillings (20p; $0.30) to 2,000 Ugandan shillings per day.

The supervisor said that the land was owned by the Roman Catholic Church but it was in business with the supervisor’s employer: Kigezi Highland Tea Limited.

A local Catholic Church official confirmed to us that there had been “a business deal between the diocese and Kigezi Highland Tea” since 2013.

The official said that the decision to harvest tea came “through the financial sustainability plan committee” of the diocese.

When we tried to contact the Bishop in his diocese, we were told that he was preparing to meet the pope. Calls to his mobile also went unanswered.

Father Lucien, his secretary, denied that child labour was taking place on the tea plantation.

So we called the Vatican instead and put our evidence to the Pope’s spokesman, Federico Lombardi.
“I deny to have responsibility and duty to answer about this – if there is problem for the local church, I am not responsible for that”, he told us.

Retired Pope Benedict XVI has said he hopes to soon join a beloved professor friend in “the afterlife,” in a sign that the 94-year-old pontiff is not only accepting his eventual death but welcoming it.

“Of all my colleagues and friends he was the closest to me,” Benedict wrote, according to the letter reproduced in German media. “Now he has reached the afterlife, where many friends certainly await him. I hope I can join them soon.”
