I like the part of the article describing finding a universal theory among quantum scientists as being as likely as the Cleveland Browns wining the Superbowl........ OUCH, and poor Browns.

It's priced right (under $30 for a used edition) but the Kindle edition has some bad reviews, as the illustrations are, apparently, too small.

A timeless video on WLC is his debate with Professor Sean Carroll:

Basically, whatever Science uncovers about the natural world, theists will claim that it is so because "God wanted it that way."

Yea, but it isn't just Christianity that pulls this shit, every religion does.

I am dead serious, you can google any religious label and put the word "science" after it, and find tons of apology sites that claim science points to their club. BELIEVE ME, they all do it. Jews and Muslims and Hindus and Buddhists as well.

Humans worldwide simply don't like facing their finite existence and they need a club that tells them they are the one true center of all this.

But to understand Peskin&Schroder at all, you need at least an undergrad education in theoretical physics, better graduate level courses in classical mechanics, Edyn, QM, college level calculus and and complex variables.

Indeed, there are some prerequisites.  Khan Academy has a full range of videos for those who want to traverse the learning curve:

https://www.khanacademy.org/math

Foundational calculus and physics can be found here:

https://openstax.org/

And, finally, Advanced Calculus by Kaplan, Modern Physics by Krane, Quantum Mechanics & Electromagnetism by Griffith, and Fundamentals of Statistical and Thermal Physics by Reif should do the trick, although, I have read that Weinburg has a QFT 3-volume tome that assumes no prior knowledge!

I'm pretty sure I asked one of AF's resident physicists whether being impossibly intelligent was requisite for being good at physics, and to the best of my recollection, possessing above average intelligence was part of his answer (studying advanced mathematics and being able to creatively solve problems was also part of it). Now, IMO, this was a very humble answer, as it just seems like one has to be severely talented and gifted in order to have the creative insight/vision to succeed in this field; however, it is very likely that a highly gifted individual would view my understanding of giftedness/creativity as just being above average or commonplace. Hence, I certainly appreciate these individuals and their contributions toward advancing humanity's knowledge and understanding of reality.

I agree with Khan Academy's motto, "You can learn anything."  Really, the most important thing is persistence, but to persist requires interest.  I think that this is why a lot of girls are excited about science and the natural world in elementary school only to lose interest in their middle and high school years, probably, because they start to focus more on boys and clothes, and each other, and in the process, lose interest in science.

Those we point to as the lesser minds of our species still manage to commit to memory the lyrics to untold numbers of songs, a mountain of sports stats big enough to crush a legitimate statistician, the best routes to navigate hundreds of miles of frequently confusing terrain, the vaguery of office sops, elaborate family histories, complicated jokes, a fluid language, social mores, inventories of household items down to the toothpicks and toiletpaper, and exactly what was wrong with each and every one of their exes.

-and then we forget to leave the seat down.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

There was a "Welcome back, Kotter" episode about this.
