There are a few secrets that I've told to no one, for various reasons...affairs, illegal things, family stuff. I'm always surprised when people confide in me because I trust no one with a secret. I think some people just need to get things off their chest and they blurt things out.
I'm not big on spreading bad news or secrets about other people, though. Yes, it can definitely be a burden but I'd rather keep some things to myself.

Yeah, I've had people confide things to me that I'd rather not have known, that I haven't mentioned to anyone else. I confide in no one. It's the only way to keep life on an even keel. People make up enough shit already; no point in giving them real ammunition. I'd have a tough time with not reporting illegal activities confided to me, though. Most of the time, things people say, if repeated, just cause trouble for everyone involved. Sometimes people are just venting, and that just doesn't need to be propagated, unless a threat to someone is voiced.

Yep, if someone is in danger, I'm on board with not keeping it a secret. Some of the secrets I've heard have...happened in another country and sadly, there's not much impact I could have.
