There was no incidence of lice or bedbugs, even if there were, they could've gotten a lice/bedbug treatment instead of cutting off their hair.

I have no idea what made the staff think it was a good idea to to that. If they have an issue with the hair, send the kid home, and ask the parents to fix it. How did they think this was an ok thing to do? I wouldn't blame any parent for suing, and pulling their kid out of that school. Hell, even if I wasn't this kid's parent, if my kid had long hair, I'd probably pull her out anyway for fear of this happening again.

Pulling this child out of this treatment centered group home/school they may not leave them with a lot of other options.

If this was done for some unknown medical/hygiene reason it should have been on record as suggested/recommended by medical professionals.

Plus, I can't help but wonder who this disturbs more, the child or the parents. Or the school. Or the state.

It should be yes, and legally - even if the above is the case, that it was done for reasons recommended by a doctor - I don't think non-emergency treatment can be done without consent of the parents.

Of course there are, though I have to admit that I can't imagine a circumstance whereby this would be a reasonable action to take absent parental consent. That of course doesn't mean much. Tongue
