What is the "Buddy List" for? Why must we request/give consent?

Wouldn't it be better just to rebrand it as your personal directory and quit bothering people with confusing requests?

Just to be clear, I wasn't the one bothered.  I was the one sending the request in order to remember whose posts I want to read and more easily access those.  You hate to make people feel like you are stalking them just to read what they choose to share publicly.  Oh well.

Hell, if I had more of them they'd be great. It's seeing a buddy list but no buddies that is so irksome

But thankfully I doubt even the most popular people on AF get many 'buddy requests'

You must know something I don't about the significance of a such a request. Does this means you want to exchange benefits, go steady .. what?

The buddy and ignore lists are there for the protection of the membership.

If someone decides to go postal (or, in my case, goes Beccinator) then those on their buddy list are safe, while those on their ignore list are the primary targets.

Uh, Hammy, everyone else on the forum gets hundreds, if not thousands, of 'buddy requests'. It's literally just you that doesn't get them. Sorry to break it to you.
