Tax payers fund a lot of business. Most actually; at least for a set period of time.

I expanded onto my building and hired several people as a result of the expansion. I was able to work with the city, county, and state on the taxes I pay. I am paying zero city and county taxes for the next seven years, but the jobs that I created as a result of the expansion employ people that will pay as much as my company would have. Actually a little less, but then when you take in the possibility that those new employees could move into this town and pay rent or property tax and for other things, it's way above what my company would have paid. I also only have to pay 1/3 of the state tax for the area that I expanded to for the next ten years as well for the same reason.

Helps the business with the initial investment and the ROI, increases jobs in the area, increases the taxable income in the area, and it upsets liberals that hate to see businesses do well and help their communities. It's a freaken win/win all the way around.

Carrier was not expanding, nor was their business new, and carrier already had the sweetheart deal you're referring to -before- they dipped into taxpayer coffers again.  The taxpayer literally paid their wages to keep them there, and carrier isn't and never was going to keep them there.  This thread is about carrier, not your business.  

Scrotus used the employees as a prop, and bought good pr for himself. Carrier..for their part, would have been foolish not to take the money since it was being offered with no official strings attached (even though it would have been far more ethical and obviously cost the taxpayers far less if they had declined).

Please explain to me what about -this- entire situation wasn't a giant shitshow? For extra credit, tell me how it even remotely resembles a free market or conservative ideology? Is this what was meant, by making america great again? Do you support the notion of our government using taxpayer money to buy a single person good pr, or with our government handing out taxpayer money for a particular service without actually..you know..getting whatever it is they paid for in the least? Was this a good use of government funds, or of your fellow citizens? Is this representative of the dignity and sincerity of the office of the president of the united states? Should it be?

No amount of bitching about liberals will answer any of these questions. Who won here, who was this a win/win for?

I haven't followed it stupid close but I'm a stone's throw from indy so it's on the local news quite a bit.

From what I understand of the whole thing;

The state is cutting $7 mil in taxes for Carrier, in return (and for the reasons I stated for my company and companies in general) Carrier is investing $16 mil into the facility in Indiana over the next ten years 

They are keeping 800 jobs at the plant and relocating 600 jobs to Mexico.
       ---They stated that when the deal was made so there is no changed there.

Keeping 800 is better than losing 800 and still keeps a ton of tax dollars coming into the local area and state. That's on top of the engineers and administrative staff that was going to stay anyway.

What's the gripe?

No. They were going to move all production over a three year span and leave only some engineers. Y'all are just looking for something to cry about.
Being a union plant, I'd like to see them move it all to Mexico personally. But that's just me.

They're moving all the production they were always going to move.  They're keeping the non-union white collar admin staff they were always going to keep.  That;s their entire defense to the hubbub this has created in the first place. 

They're doing exactly what they said they would do.  Trump, and the tax break..didn't change a thing, and they said that it wouldn't even when they took the money, and ran. It;s impossible for a person to be this dense. Is the reason that you're resisting reality so much in this issue that...if you believed things happened exactly how they've happened...you might be just a little bit pissed and mystified?
