I'm an introvert too Hammy , maybe you are looking at this the wrong way , I mean an introvert isn't good at expressing emotions so you shouldn't compare yourself with others. Happines is just an emotion you can't pursue it , it is a secondary effect.

I just feel our obssession with it is an artifical construct. That we are driven to be happy by external factors and actors who dangle a cheap and sparkly knock-off in front of us: The coca-cola commercial of life, if you will. Plastic smiles and impossible standards. We believe the conquest so much that we allow it to consume us; forgetting that happiness is not a destination to be reached but the journey itself. That its not something to be forced but found through balance and acceptance in your own life. I get the feeling we agree on happiness a lot more than this conversation might let on, at first sight, but that we are talking in different terms and from different angles.

Hammy, be happy or I'll come down and punch the unhappiness out of you real quick!

Happines is just an emotion you can't pursue it , it is a secondary effect. I think you can pursue it and most people do. Wether it's instant gratification in the form of sex, drugs, sugar, or whatever. Or if it's more slow release delayed gratification like the satisfaction of a hard day's work, a successful long term relationship, exercise. Humans in general all aim for contentment or pleasure. The only thing that prevents it is when that contentment or pleasure comes with risks or costs that the individual has decided wouldn't be worth it. Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason.
I definitely don't think pleasure is the same as happiness. Nor is pain the same as suffering. That's why I can be in pain but not give a shit because I'm happy, and I can also overindulge in sensual pleasures to try and numb my misery, and yet I am still miserable.
