I would also look at cutting a lot of small things we fund, like public broadcasting.
There's no need for it. Cable and the internet can provide the same things as public broadcasting.
Great. Only $696 billion more to cut. What else?
I'd also like to repeat my question as to what you would do about the health care crisis in our nation. We're losing jobs to Canada and the costs are spiraling out of control. To say nothing of the human factor, my wife would be dead now if she weren't married to me. Thankfully, she has the correct body parts so our red state that wants government out of our lives has graciously approved our union. Because she was covered under my insurance, the treatment was only ruinously expensive as opposed to unattainable. I had to liquidate my IRA and will likely have to liquidate her's as well. Ah well, at least the Republicans didn't successfully ruin social security back in 2005.
So what's your plan for health care?

Hoping no one remembers what would have happened if Bush had his way.
Oh, and let's allow cross-state competition so all the insurance companies can relocate to the state with the least regulation.

Which do we resolve first, raising taxes to reduce the federal budget deficit, or do we cut taxes to help fuel the economy and create jobs? 15 million Americans are still out of work. The national unemployment rate remains at nearly 10%, ( 9.6%). In my state, the unemployment rate remains in the double digits. While the New York Times reported that 151,000 jobs were added last week, at the same time, the Labor Department reported that 457,000 new unemployment claims were also filed. 151,000 Americans found jobs, 457,000 Americans lost their jobs. One step forward, and four steps backward is not progress.
I think jobs and the economy are the first concerns with most people. More people out of work, means a weak economy, more money the government will dump into help programs, which creates bigger deficits, and a weak tax base. Cut taxes now, to help fuel the economy and create jobs, worry about increases later.

I don't have one. What's yours, (that doesn't involve taxing Americans to pay for it, carrying government health i.d. cards, government access to our bank accounts, and free health insurance to illegals at American taxpayers expense)? What are your thoughts on this... http://www.naturalnews.com/026733_health...hcare.html

Cutting taxes doesn't fuel the economy. Economists will tell you this. Both Reagan and W. Bush tried it. It doesn't work. The rich either save the money or invest it overseas. That's why when Clinton raised taxes on the rich, he still managed to create some of the best sustained growth our economy has enjoyed in a while. He also balanced the budget, too.
Is there a point where after 30 years of trying a failed strategy where we can now scrap it?

Medicare for all American citizens. It's cheaper, better for society and more humane.
Cheaper: Eliminates the unnecessary middle-man of insurance, gets rid of the administrative hoops doctors must jump through for insurance, and spots medical problems before they become emergency room issues. Ounce of prevention...
Better for society: A healthy society is a productive society.
More humane: Needs no explanation.

My taxes pay for police that protect your house. My taxes pay for a fire department that also protects your house. Why not pay for medical care to protect you? Where's your line that says murderers and fires are community concerns but not viruses?

Next time my house catches fire, I'll call a doctor to come and put it out.
