I raise you a Red Dwarf.

I love Red Dwarf, but it's far less consistent (at least when compared to II, the Third, and Goes Forth.) And even when it's great (which it frequently is), I still find some things to quibble about, even if it's something like "I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Grant and Naylor have never actually read Lolita."

I know my Library of America copy might not be representative, but Page 61 has her being driven away to Camp Q (Kubrick or maybe producer James B. Harris changed its name to Camp Climax; it's still Camp Q in his version of the script) and there's little worse than a hug (and she doesn't even know what he really feels yet.)

As much as I love Red Dwarf, when I think of '80s TV my first thought is of Max Headroom.

Also enjoyed watching 5-minute episodes of Danger Mouse with my daughter, and wincing at all the puns.

V...Was actually a miniseries, I think. Haven't caught the Syfy remake/reboot yet. Anyhow,
I distinctly remember wondering why none of the other kids at school seemed to tune in.
Certainly food for thought, at the time.

I'll re-raise your Allo Allo all in with even more Blackadder.

And some a Bit of Fry and Laurie on the side:

Hammy .... you reminded me about this: Monty Python's Ministry of Silly Walks Big Grin

"Alone is what I have. Alone protects me."
“I may be on the side of the angels but don’t think for one second that I am one of them.”
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day."

What? I thought Monty Python was started in the 1970s? Maybe you watched reruns in the 80s but this is the history, and the thread is about the 80s.

If you want British comedy that went well into the 80s you'd have to go with Benny Hill.

I was wicked little in the 80s. Saturday morning cartoons were the extent of what I would watch on television.

Just caught a clip of this song being used by the Benny Hill Show in an episode, and yes it is an ABBA member, Agnetha Fatltskog post ABBA.
