Please Tell Me This Isn't True

RE: Please Tell Me This Isn't True
Hahaha, this is great!
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Yep, pretty funny. True? All I know is my wife has hired a millennial who helps keep her plugged in to media beyond Fb. Lia can usually keep her mail chimp on task but when he gets wonky the millennial can always make him behave.

Okay, so. . .

I have about 20 employees, and this shit is not even an exaggeration. Not a little bit. Not satire.

Me to new teacher: I haven't scheduled classes for you yet, so you can observe the other teachers today. You start with David.
New teacher: So. . . I don't have my own classes?
Me: That's right. For now, you will observe and learn.
NT: The contract says I have to teach up to 6 hours, but it doesn't say anything about having to observe anyone.
Me: Ummmm. . . Okay, so do you just want to go ahead and start teaching?
NT: weelllll. . . since I don't have any classes anyway, can I take a break? I haven't had lunch yet. (It's now 2:25 pm, 5 minutes before the first class of the day starts)
Me: You haven't done anything yet, so you don't really need a break. Please go observe the class, and we can talk about the classes after I'm done with my own.
NT: I feel like you aren't hearing me. Are you always so hostile? I thought you were going to be a nice boss.
Me: I've instructed you to observe a class. Are you going to do it, or not?
NT: Listen to meeeee. You're getting mad, you're not listening to meeee.
Me: Classes are starting right now. I literally have to run to start my class. Go observe, and we'll talk about this later.
NT: But. . . my breeeaaaak. You aren't LISTENING! I want you to listen to why I shouldn't have to work right now.
Me: Go to class, or you're done.
NT: Listeennnnnnnn.
Me: So. . . are you giving notice?
NT: Okay. . . I'll give you 2 days' notice. If you're going to be like this, I'm going to take another job. I'll be out of the apartment you provided in a couple weeks, ok?
Me: You are required by the contract and your visa stipulations to give a months' notice.
NT: Well. . . I think let's just finish today then. And don't forget to pay me for the full day, since this is all your fault. I'll let you know when I'm done with the apartment so you can bring in a new teacher.
Me: If you're not going to do your job, then get your shit out of the fucking apartment by midnight, or I'll have the cops do it for you.
NT: OMG I can't believe what a monster you are. I just wanted you to LISTEN!!! *shrieks* . . . well. . . at least I think you better give me a letter of reference so I can get another job. You owe me at least that much, right?

NOT. . . FUCKING. . . EXAGGERATING. This happened.

Get this fucking generational conflict propaganda out of my face.

I get that it's funny but it also perpetuates a harmful stereotype that undermines the efforts made by younger workers as well as providing an excuse for older generations to ignore their viewpoints.

Well I'm definitely very much not into the whole 'unconscious' thing, and the snoring doesn't do anything for me either way . . . but the drooling on the other hand is very sexy.

Yeah, the new generation are getting treated so unfairly.  How DARE we "stereotype" them by describing the things they constantly do, say, and think? I just gave a living, breathing testimonial, and you are trying to go SJW?

There is much literature on the subject.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/c...story.html

Quote:One HR professional set up interviews for two millennial candidates with the CEO of a multibillion-dollar company. Not only did they both cancel at the last minute, they asked if the interview could be done over Skype instead of in person, because it was too inconvenient to travel from the East to West Coast.

•Millennials' sense of entitlement is frustrating. As one HR professional noted, the younger employees feel that they are owed more respect, opportunity and pay than their experience, ability or knowledge merit.

Quote:Want to get work done? Don't hire a millennial, business owner says

Quote:"Back when I was HR Manager for a market research firm, one of the most awkward interviews was with my candidate and his mother.

This 19-year-old who apparently had previous work experience in customer service brought his mother into the interview with him. I politely questioned his mother as to the reasoning of her joining in on the interview and I was told, 'I'm just making sure this is the right company for him and making sure you're asking fair questions.'

The last one has some really funny stuff..... even if it is ultimately scary as all hell.

That last one- a true helicopter parent. What's going to happen to him if a customer gets bitchy and mommy isn't there to back him up?

My eldest son had a friend whose mother made him wait for her to tell him when it was safe to cross the street, even when he was 15 years old. He didn't get a driver's license until he graduated university, because his mother insisted on taking him to and from the campus. Rolleyes

Welcome to my world.
Although when I snore I get a stiff prod from a stern faced Mrs who seems to think I can control my volume when asleep.

I'm a millennial but I'm not offended by this. I think it's funny, and unfortunately, there is truth to it.
