Yes, indeed, Science trumps "revelation". I am glad that you agree with this!

I'll just throw this here.
It is possible that religion doesn't mean as actual homosexuality as a sin but the negation of ones own sexuality as a sin :-? Wondered about that a few days ago.

For example : If a person who is exclusively heterosexual( this is a psychological measurement on a sexual orientation scale , meaning that a person doesn't receive stimuli from a person of the same sex) negates his sexual orientation because of disapointment and trauma that may be the actual sin considered by religion ?

Well next time you are inclined to such thinking, go and lie down till those thoughts go away.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

I agree that the science of the day lacks what we now know, it seemed in Luther's day that the Bible did say the earth didn't move. Now we know the earth does move and now we understand what those verses mean to a greater depth. The verses are as true know as they were then, they have never changed and were/are relevant to different generations. There was no revelation of the earth standing still, the people of the time even non-Christians believed the earth was the center of the universe. You would probably have believed the same if you were alive then.

Luther had no qualms about appealing to the Bible as justification for his anti-Copernican stance, as did others. Why should I believe anything in the Bible beyond it being a poor source of history?

Pertaining to the verses we've discussed.  Tell me can't you see how the Bible was relevant to Luther and others and relevant to Christians today even though science has shown us so much about the universe that they could not have known? The Bible was never intended to be a history book, it is a spiritual manual for Christians to live their lives by, and for the non-believer to find their way to God.

They are against homosexuality because two persons of the same sex can't have children. No children = less followers = less power (danger, danger, your religion might die out like many others have in the past!!!). It's very simple, if a religion wants to be successfull, the more people the better! And that forbids gay people from having loving relationships.

Although it boggles my mind they have no qualms when it comes to touching innocent children of their same sex.  Shy

Well, most of the time it starts with a little touching, and threats, promises, deceit, lustful glances. Then they proceed to do their heinous acts. I knew everyone would get my point.  Tongue
