The realization that the whole schmear is made up made me disgusted with my behavior (and the time wasted with it), up to that point. The hypocrisy, etc., are history. It was a great relief to reason my way through and out of it. It wasn't too far off working out a complicated proof in physics or mathematics. The difference there is that in physics and mathematics, you get the tools to help work through it, instead of BS and weasel-words. The indoctrination took years to wear off, though. I get the occasional frisson about hell, but you know what's really funny? Many opinions denominations are now denying its existence.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I think quite a few christers realize admitting even a jot or tittle of Error exists in Holy Scripture would rapidly snowball into a crisis of faith fueled by ALL the stuff we note here regularly.

I don't miss having to interrupt my weekends and holidays to schlep to mass with a bunch of hypocrites. Hell, even New Year's Day is a (pointless) holy day of obligation in Catholicism.

Apart from that, I feel a general sense of freedom and autonomy that I never had while under the thumb of religion. It's a great feeling and why I'll never go back.
