Technically state legislators are not part of civil service. Real civil servants don’t tend to get along with republicans because the republican model of civil service is one that undoes itself so eventually the wealthy would have no limit on their ability to extract every penny out of everyone else and no obligation to pay towards anything that benefits anyone else.
