Why the I.R.S. Should Go After Trump

From 2006 to 2011, Mr. Hackney was an attorney for the chief counsel of the I.R.S. specializing in nonprofit organizations.

As a former attorney for the chief counsel of the I.R.S. who specialized in nonprofit organizations, I believe Mr. Trump is also criminally liable for his actions. If I were still at the I.R.S., based on the lawsuit, I would make a criminal referral, on charges of tax evasion or false statements on a tax return, or both.

I have absolutely zero faith in the idea that the American justice system is either willing or able to bring down the criminals that run our government. That system is, after all, an integral part of that government. And that government has been corrupt for a very, very long time. That same DOJ continues to wage the "war on drugs", and continues to stuff American prisons with non-violent offenders and the mentally ill while continuously ignoring or cutting deals with white collar criminals. Trump has a well know history of illegal activity. The American justice system has given him a pass for decades, why think those who run it suddenly want to bring him down now that he is in the White House? They have an Authoritarian wanna-be dictator in the White House, exactly their kind of person.

My bet is the Mueller "investigation" is mostly a sham, window dressing, a play staged to make people think that that America's justice system actually gives a second thought to actually administering justice. He will steamroll a couple of minor players but, within a couple of weeks now, will quietly fold his tent with the conclusion that, though some laws were broken, there is no evidence leading to Trump. He will not be indicted, let alone removed from office.

Minimalist, I hope I am utterly and completely wrong. I would be as pleased as anyone to see the entire Trump Administration perp walked right out of the Oval Office; handcuffs and all. i would be even more pleased if Trump manages to bring down the Republican party with him. But I suspect that is nothing but wishful thinking, a vain hope that this country can still be rescued from itself.

My hope is that the Chump will continue to stumble around the world stage, while stymied at every turn until his term is up. Who in their right mind wants Pence? The rest of the world will recover after he's gone, as will the US, hopefully.
