I think, if he’s callous enough to not only have done what he did but do so multiple times over a long time period, he won’t actually feel much listening to it being said. Probably all an act.

Did he actually rape all of those girls multiple times over years and threaten them with a weapon?  In all of those incidents why did no observer notice that the girls had been traumatized by him after they left his office?  What was their common psychological flaw that kept them going back for more raping?  

I think he had a shitty set of lawyers.
