Can you really say you're taking your own religion seriously when you decide to do something like this?  I mean blessing an inanimate object?  Seems like something you might do with a child and their security blanket, but not for an adult.

Catholics bless inanimate objects all of the time. The blessing of Christmas trees and bacon certainly seems strange to me.

We do bless objects that have some sort of religious association, like rosaries for example. But lets be clear the church that blessed those guns is not catholic.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I'm all for dowsing a bunch of AR-15s in water. Submerge them, and say a nice long prayer.

Just saying Christians like to bless objects, catholics was an easy list to find. Plus, you do bless tools and I sure theses people would tell you that guns are tools.

How is bacon religious? hehehe

I'm not sure what bacon blessing you are referring to, but my guess is they blessed the food for some sort of religious celebration, like Christmas maybe?

This seems kind of based on the benedictio armorum. During the dark ages were priests use to bless the armor and weapons of crusaders .

Of course America has this odd tendency to mix guns with christianity

I was referring to the occassion in which it would happen.

Gentile Day, obviously.

What better way for Christians to celebrate stealing the Jews' holy scripture, declaring much of it void, and then boldly claiming that your group is the one who really understands what those books mean than blessing some non-kosher food?

I would much rather have a couple of AA-12s than a couple of AR-15s = https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/searc...tion=click
