Can you really say you're taking your own religion seriously when you decide to do something like this?  I mean blessing an inanimate object?  Seems like something you might do with a child and their security blanket, but not for an adult.

Catholics bless inanimate objects all of the time. The blessing of Christmas trees and bacon certainly seems strange to me.

Lol. I remember going to mass with my mom and sister with the dogs so they could have the dogs blessed.

Bless, O Lord,
this lard (or bacon),
that it may be an effective remedy
for the human race,
and grant that through the invocation
of Thy holy name
all those who eat of it
may obtain health of body
and protection of their souls.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Of course, Jesus then said two swords were enough for the entire group, and then chastises Peter for using a sword during his (Jesus') arrest, but it's not like Christians engage in cherry picking or anything....

I would imagine the like the benedictio armorum they would bless them before using them .

These sickos would point to the Middle East and the Sunni and Shiite love of Koran's and love of guns. But, I guess when you pick the correct deity and love guns, then murder is ok.

And all I can think is what a pathetic puny God you have if it needs you to be armed to protect him considering they claim he is "all powerful".

Unfortunately I do think they are taking their religion seriously. Sure it is childish, but it is very dangerous because these are adults.

I wonder if it gives them a more lustrous coat?

Heavenly Father, we humbly beseech Thee to bestow Thy blessings on these semi-automatic weapons.  May Thy spirit enter into them, that we may slay Thine enemies in just a few short minutes.  Give unto us full magazines, and may our firing pins always strike true.  And, while Thou art about it, Lord, see what You can do about getting us armour-piercing bullets, that we may be assured of shooting all the way through the over-stuffed backpacks of some of these teenagers.

Nah, just soothes the wife (that whole mental crutch thing). Don't do shit for the dogs, trust me.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
