Never heard of that url, any mainstream links like ABC NBC CNN WASHINGTON POST?

It wouldn't shock me though.

Just heard that a 25 minute confession was found on his cell phone. Haven't heard any details yet.

Questioning a girl friend.

I'll be interested to know his motive
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Yup. That's been all over the news. The authorities said his confession didn't appear to be motivated by terrorism or hate but seemed to be the outcry of a very troubled young man. He left a target list but didn't expound further on why he was going after them. So, no clear motive as yet.

I think any time you isolate a human being and they get to the point of feeling left out, it can lead to violence, be it street crime, mental illness, political or religious.

Not justifying what this sicko did. But without funding social safety nets, such as affordable heath care, mental health care, and livable wages, and that individual has no solid family support, it has more of a potential to lead to things like this.

I think at this point in our economic history as a nation, media speeds too much time on the word "motive" instead of the long term economics which could reduce all forms of violence.

It does no good to talk of motive if you don't invest in the stability of a society.

Yes we do want to know the motive, but funding prevention can reduce this kind of desperation.

Some people just like to hurt others because it makes them feel powerful, and they like that.

He wasn't wrong in his reasoning that executed inmates don't become repeat offenders.

Having said that the recidivism rate of paroled murderers is considerably lower than it is for people convicted of other violent crimes. One of the reasons for this is believed to be the murderers spend more time in jail so they are older when they get out and less likely to kill again. While that isn't much of an argument for the death penalty, it is a decent argument for longer sentences for other types of violent offenders.

Makes we wonder how many of the signs/symptoms were missed. Hope they interview the family. But like many, they'll just say "we didn't notice anything, he was a good boy".

I know good boys. They don't blow things up.

I've known a few people whose intensity and strangeness made me think twice about them. I have no doubt those few are the ones I'd have to look out for.

Only one crime has ever surprised me when I read about the person who did it and how. It was some woman who got shitfaced and drove the wrong way on the highway with her brother's kids in the car. I watched a documentary on it, and it did seem completely out of character. All I can think is this woman got to day drinking and lost her damn mind.
