Three Separate Package Explosions Reported In Texas

So we have to see how things shake out. Worse to incorrectly label someone a textbook terrorist than to wait to see if he actually fits the bill.

He terrorised one of the biggest cities in America, he is a terrorist.

I think the defining factors for terrorism is that it needs to be motivated by an ideology - like religious or political for example. My guess is it was political, but we'll just have to wait and see.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

B doesn't automatically follow from A when the normal definitions are used. Emotionally your statement works, but situational definitions of words leads to chaos in communications.

I have to agree with your post, Sama, but I do also think this guy was very likely a terrorist. I can't think of a single bomber who wasn't motivated by an ideology.

Austin bomber: 'Challenged young man' or 'terrorist'?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morn...c259c45120

Quote:There is no universally accepted definition of terrorism, a politically charged term with usage often dependent on ideology or point of view. But the label is often used to describe the use of violence for political or ideological ends.

The FBI defines domestic terrorism as acts perpetrated by “individuals and/or groups inspired by or associated with primarily U.S.-based movements that espouse extremist ideologies of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.” It provides the example of the June 2014 Las Vegas shooting, during which two police officers inside a restaurant were killed in an ambush-style attack committed by a married couple who held anti-government views.

The USA Patriot Act defines “domestic terrorism” as activities within the U.S. that involve acts dangerous to human life intended to “intimidate or coerce a civilian population,” “to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion,” or “to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.”

Yeah well, who cares what the Patriot Act says? There's still a lot of wiggle room in these matters....right?

Bottom line- You're WRONG, Mooney. Conditt was white.
And a Christian to boot.

So you see, it only appears that he intimidated the entire civilian population of Austin through violence by SERIAL BOMBING the shit out of the city for nearly three weeks. What you all were really experiencing were the actions of a very "troubled" and very "challenged" young man. Simply expressing his pain and frustration in a most...unfortunate manner.

Lol...What's wrong with you, gal? Get with the program! Rolleyes

IKR?  It's easy. When a white kids sets off bombs he's a "challenged young man" but never a terrorist.  We are absolutely unfailing in our ability to sympathize with white domestic terrorists.

Juxtapose that against how we conceptualize some black kid who flashes a phone as a miscreant who wouldn't comply. It takes a profoundly privileged dipshit to respond to "challenge" in this way, and it takes an explicitly complicit media and populace to conceptualize it as such. I could set a synagogue on fire and as long as I don't paint swastikas all over my social media and scream "the joooos!" into a megaphone*...well, I'm just challenged. My life didn't go as planned.

Boohoo..everyone cry real tears for me. If only I;d gotten what I wanted................

True, but political purposes are the litmus test for "Terrorist". I remember seeing the news back when I was a midget and they spoke of "terrorism" and then explained it because it was a new idea. (Reportage was from Algeria at that time.)

To be fair, I think of any killer that is clearly derange or troubled as deranged or troubled, no matter their skin color. I do have little doubt this kid was suffering from some kind of mental issue. He blew a bomb up that was in his lap. That doesn't mean he's not also a terrorist, if it is determined that he was.

Sama, religious purposes are also considered terrorism. I see little difference between religion and politics when it comes to terrorism.
