Why does my family want me to be christian so much?

Why does my family want me to be christian so much?
They don't believe in Hell and know that atheists can be moral. If someone becomes atheist and is unhappy, they have the right to return to religion at any time, so why do they insist so much un religion?
I geniuenly want to understand them, but can't.

Criminals rape and kill. It's not like I will try to understand their unique worldview. Life's too short for that kind of shit and same goes for religion.

It's got something to do with distorted thinking and fear of losing control of their child.

They get a kickback from your church if they save you from yourself.

They may say that because they know that it is logically true, but do they really believe it?

Remember, they will have been brought up with their own conditioning that lurks at the back of the mind.

I don't know. My family is sort of the same way, very liberal in their religious beliefs, doesn't believe in hell but obviously uncomfortable with my atheism.

Ultimately I think people not sharing their beliefs makes them uncomfortable.

Do they think it will cure you of something?

My parents were so brainwashed that they just didn't know any better or different.

Cure me of something? Like what? You know, I'm not sure why, since my parents themselves are actually converts. My mother's family is jewish and she is a non denominational Christian. My father has eastern religious beliefs that are a little complicated to explain briefly but he is a monotheist, and I'd actually say he's a pretty religious person, although doesn't believe in hell. He came from a secular background and started believing in god after taking LSD (no joke!) Converts are often the most ardent believers.

I'm not really sure their motivation for pushing their beliefs on me from time to time, other than that they are true believers and think it to be true. With my mother, I just promote atheism if she gets too pushy.
