I still think getting a flu shot is directly linked to getting the flu

Did you get "the flu" or flu like symptoms? Every time I get the flu shot I get flu-like symptoms but that's normal.

Do flu-like symptoms stay at full strength for the better part of a week, or at least as long as the full-blown flu?

Sometimes, yeah. I guess my question should really be, were you diagnosed with the flu or did you just assume it was the flu?

The flu vaccine works by tricking the body into thinking it's fighting the real flu. A lot of the flu-like symptoms are caused by your body working overtime producing antibodies. Everyone's body reacts differently in terms of severity to the flu shot. For me, I get a little sore and hot for the day after. My wife however can get a fever.

The ONE time I got the flu, it was my Freshman year of college after being required to get the flu shot in order to attend.  Haven't had a flu shot since, and haven't had the flu since.

You science-y people can make all the claims you want.  I'm not buying them, because I'm evidence against those claims.

You're an anti-vaxxer?

I've gotten flu shots every year they were available, only got the flu once. I suggest that my attribution is more logical than yours.

Not anti-vax, just anti-flu shot for myself.

That’s fine, not everyone can take the flu shot, which is why it’s important for those of us who can to take it (herd immunity).

Please don’t use your own experience to persuade anyone else to avoid it though. For every person like you where it didn’t work, there’s thousands for which it did.
