I direct you towards this fount of future knowledge Future Timeline.

It is basically a site that has collected predictions about the future and ordered them chronologically.

Most technologies basic to the functioning of societies in 2025 will be incrementally evolved versions of current technologies. Some will involve major advances. The concept of large scale technological and engineering solution to problems currently addressed with various forms of avoidance will regain ascendency.

Holographic televisions will be commerically available, thus the Arnold Rimmer experience will come full-circle.

I'm half asleep and I literally busted out laughing that he asked you that question, Shiny.

I'm laughing at one section of that site talking about telecommuting - every office I've been in has gone through some "change" where they desperately tried to go the paperless route. It meant they used twice as much paper, but now they had to move the files to a professional storage facility because their servers were starting to take up all of the room. This is one area I hope actually comes true. It's annoying.
