City College Holds "Active Shooter Drill"

For real. I was just on the phone with this guy at a city college in Chicago. He had to go because they were holding an active shooter drill. Like a fire drill but it's for what to do when there's a gunman on campus. The students go in a room and turn off the lights and lock the door so the gunman can't get to them. They wait until the police come and give them the all clear.

When I was in college all we had to deal with was papers and books and teacher's dirty looks.

Serpentine drills, or...what? "Hide in a room from the gunman" doesn't seem like something you'd need to practice.

You're right. Those students hiding in rooms will be hostages. And universe help them if the gunman has a semi automatic and just blows the locks off the doors.

Break the industry and bust it's lobby we can be as worry free from firearm violence as Australia and Scotland. It is a matter of our will to bust the greed of one industry.

Attitudes and laws desperately need to be changed.
But, until that happens, it's better to be prepared in case a shooter does appear than sit in class and hope it doesn't happen.

"I have no choice now" is not the same as accepting it forever.
When the Parkland shooting happened , the GOP didn't do what Scotland and Australia did. Saying there is always gap from the start of a movement to the time to the point of implementation is one thing. Waiting for that to happen while one party throws crumbs at you is stupid.
