Explain this, theists

RE: Explain this, theists
I think one of lowest points you can reach, is when you strawman's God's potential explanation to why he did something, because in truth it's not God being asked about why he did something, it's us being asked about it, and how we understand it, and so we are being asked about his actions in the sense "what do you make of them".

God if he exists, can't be questioned of what he does, it's rather us, being questioned about how we understand what he does what he does.

This wisdom would solve a lot of issues for you guys if you take to heart, but keep the mockery up, see where it's get you!

What the fuck is a potential explanation?

If you don't know, an explanation is not acknowledged but shouldn't be denied. It should be seen as possibly true or possible wrong. I read the Quran for about 3 years in that state.

Sure he can, people do it all the time, especially in magic books.  It;s not their problem (or our problem) if he doesn't answer, or if the answer crammed into his mouth is worthless.

Obviously, that's until some true believer(s) makes it everyone else's problem.

Is this a game of three guesses where all three answers involve molten lead being poured down my anus?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's all very conflicting.

I’m going off on a tangent here but I do like to keep a good edge on this particular ax. You brought it on yourself by using “moral high ground”. That makes me think of the xtian lust for moral exceptionalism. Of course in the US they mostly suck at it, but they would all like to think they’ll be in the rank of the moral best once they’re foregiven.

But I don’t want that. On my grave stone (not that I’d have one) I’d like it written “he wasn’t such an asshole”, “wasn’t a moral narcissst”, that sort of thing. But I’m not looking to win any moral events. No medals for me. Rather in my obit let it be said he didn’t let moral obsessions distract him in his pursuit of aesthetic pleasure and meaning.[/rant]

Yeah, they're amateurs.

It would make for an interesting headstone.  I think, though, that you probably do want to feel that your actions fall within a comfortably moral range.  Both "he wasn't such an asshole" and "wasn't a moral narcissist" are moral awards...moral accolades.   You beat the assholes and the narcissists.  Those declarations establish a relative high ground between you and whomever falls into the other sets of "was such an asshole" and "totally unbearable narcissist".

You're just such a solid guy you don't want to make a big fuss out of it, even though the other guys are a bunch of narcissistic assholes. That might even add another inch in moral elevation.

Yeah it is a slippery slope feeling above the fray with out inadvertently moving the needle on ones moral ranking.

The truth is being raised in a weirdly xtian home I can’t help having picked up some things. But I do chafe when they surface.

Modesty is a god neutral virtue. You know what I like about a secular modesty..though? It affirms the virtue of the behavior..but allows for deep rooted motivations to be acknowledged without superstitiously motivated shame or guilt. Without taboo. Something you seek to avoid (or an expression of it, a moral obsession) in your pursuit of meaning and aesthetics.

You crack me up but also keep me grounded. I actually do recognize some narcissist tendencies but I’d like to think I’m in remission. Least wise I don’t happily serve them and will walk them back when they get out of hand.
