Psh, Clearwater's nice. Hop and a skip to red. The Pasadena/Paradise canal has stone crab, h/f has the estuary, gandy for shrimp (s side) and sheephead(n side), and a half hour gets you to the trench under the skyway for sharks or out to Desoto for jacks and macks. Or you can head north to Tarpon Springs for sponges and greek restaurants.
Bonus..you get to watch all the freaks in khakis and blue shirts @ the old Ft. Harrison. Just don;t go out onto Clearwater beach until the morning rake for hypos and it's all gravy.
(I stay at the Don everytime I come down....if you ever wanna meet my brood. Be there around the 4th of July this year - you can help us trash the room..as is our custom...we can throw peices of ham @ the scientologists and watch the gulls do what they do..even!)
