Even if you didn’t clinch it by thinking anything uniquely Christian is proven or acceptable as fact,  you still exhibit plenty of other evidence you don’t understand at all what “prove” and “accept as fact” means in the scientific approach to finding facts.

I'll just pull this little nugget out for comment-

"Black holes, dark energy, dark matter.

No physicist "believes in" this. We accept that these are a temporary explanation for phenomena that we observe. Black holes demonstrably exist, based on observations and conclusions in the scientific literature. By the same token, we don't know everything there is to know about them. Physicists posit "dark energy" and "dark matter" as a provisional explanation for their observations. The actual (totally correct, mathematical) explanation has yet to be obtained. I guess you still want to stick to the biblical interpretation of the physical universe? You'd do well living 5 or 6 centuries ago, or even more, if so.

Shit, ninja'd by a fossil. Tongue

You accuse Christians of being wrong with the same explanation you used to defend science, no that's a real jewel you just threw out.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

So not only are you threatening people but you're also being a bigot by trying to height-shame me. Well, what else could I expect from a Christian that gets his "morals" from the Bible but primitive barbarism.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

How do you feel about Christians who believe in an old earth creationism? Biologos is a group promoting that view. They accept that human beings have been a part of the same evolutionary process which has resulted in every other creature as well. They somehow still think every detail unearthed by science reveals another detail in god's plan.

Can they be the true kind of Christian too or are they required to agree with your interpretation?

See, here's the problem. You claim to sense Jesus (see? hear? feel?)

A schizophrenic will claim to hear voices.

As someone who experiences neither, how can I tell if either of you really are sensing something external to yourselves or whether you are both claiming this because of how your brains are currently malfunctioning?

Because whether it is your experience of Jesus or the voices in the head of the schizophrenic, whatever it is you think that you are experiencing cannot be sensed or measured by a third party.

If it was a case that all theists experienced the same phenomenon, whether christian, jew, muslim, satanist or pagan, or all schizophrenics were consistent in hearing the same voice saying exactly the same thing, then we would be given more cause to consider that maybe there is something that we have missed.

But it's not.

Simplest explanation until evidence suggests otherwise is that you are both delusional.

I help care for a young lady who was born mentally challenged and then later developed schizophrenia and heard voices. This young lady has the mind of a four year old and wouldn't have had the knowledge that people even hear voices so she has no reason to lie, unlike you who has much knowledge and has to lie to make yourself look good. I've prayed for hear many times and it now has been a long time since she has heard voices. So you see she is not delusional, because we know she has heard voices and i'm not delusional because God has answered my prayer for her. You are the delusional one who has no concept of what goes on in the real world or the spiritual world. My young lady and I have seen God in action, you don't because you are spiritually blind. See why the Christians wanted a place to have civil discussions, to keep idiots from derailing conversations with their thoughtless idiocy.

That would be going against what God has told us, they want to play both sides of the fence and by the way I've know about them for many years.

Whateverist Wrote:Biologos is a group promoting that view.  They accept that human beings have been a part of the same evolutionary process which has resulted in every other creature as well.  They somehow still think every detail unearthed by science reveals another detail in god's plan.

They are wrong from the get go and are deceiving themselves to please the world. God tells Christians to be holy as He is holy, meaning we are to separate ourselves from the way the world thinks as God separates himself from sin. To reject creation as described in Genesis is to reject God's plan.

Whateverist Wrote:Can they be the true kind of Christian too or are they required to agree with your interpretation?

They can and do believe what they want to and according to the scriptures they are wrong. I've never claimed my interpretations are all 100% correct and never will, I'm a fallible human being who makes mistakes. But as for Biologos they are wrong in their thinking.

I understand the facts just fine, there is no proof for black holes, the big bang, evolution, dark energy nor dark matter. You can not show me any of them.

You guys like to gang up on the Christians and take every opportunity to do so to keep a decent conversation going, you are afraid pure and simple of what Christians have. Know that I've answered all your stupid replies I'm finished with you all in this thread.

Scientists are working very hard to find out about those and whether they hold up to scrutiny.
They are not just believed as dogma, they are worked on, tested, studied and verified.
But I find the "you believe in science" argument to be a little false. They are trying to drag us down to their level by equating the only known way to remove prejudice with the unverified nonsense they believe.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

OK, let's go through this bit by bit just to get my head round the twisted logic of what you saying

You care for someone who is schizophenic and hears voices. Fact that she is mentally challenged is irrelevant.

You prayed for her and now she no longer hears voices.

So your god can interfere with how people's minds work? I thought it was important for him that humans have free will?

And because you prayed for her and assumed that this was why she stopped hearing voices, you now think that she wasn't delusional about the voices and that they actually existed?

So are you now saying that she wasn't schizophrenic after all?

Of course this all forgets your confirmation bias you use to that to ignore the fact that the schizophrenia developed, and then went, and that she was probably also receiving treatment so you can claim that you prayers healed her instead. Like for example, how do you know it was your prayer that cured her? Not only is there no mechanism by which prayer could work, it doesn't even make sense within your own belief system regarding free will.

Again, you have gone for the convoluted explanation and missed the simplest. You're delusional and her schizophrenia was cured by other means.

There are plenty of christian forums to go to if that's what you want. Do you visit someone else's house and tell them to shut up because you are having a conversation with your own family?

We're getting closer to the truth about why christians want a civil section. I haven't been uncivil at all. You just don't wish to be challenged. It's what many of us suspected all along.
