As you age, do you find yourself becoming more or less irritable?

So, I've been thinking about this and when I say less, it's a lot less, but maybe more than most others.
I had some severe behavioural issues in my youth and it's hard to say what's normal.
In my teens there were times when everyone walked on eggshells around me and I was known for what seemed liked random violence.
Often it was the fear in other people's eyes that made me realise that maybe I wasn't as justified as I thought I was.
So with prescription pills, a few years of psychologists and the birth of my daughter, I think I'm probably quite normal now but I might still get occasionally irritated and am still capable of extreme measures if called for, but a hell of a lot less.
Hopefully I'm just going to continue to mellow as I get older and retain an approximately average amount of restrain.

It depends on the situation for me.

I ran out of fucks to give the day I had my first child. Now I just look forward to embarrassing them when they act like idiots in public.

As I am getting older, I no longer find any virtue in quietly dealing with people.

For instance, no one has carded me for alcohol in forever because it is obvious that I am no where near twenty-one.  This asshole at the gas station, even though he can conveniently claim it was his job to ask for my identification, it was all too obvious he was doing it to be an ass.  I returned to the apartment around the block, got my identification, and returned to tell him this:

"Here's my ID," I said as I waved it in front of him.  "Due to inconvenience, I am going to the convenience store next door to purchase alcohol.  Have a great day."

When I was younger, no way would I have been bold or brave enough to have gone back there and said that to him.  Instead, I would have silently showed my identification and purchased the alcohol.  I find as I am getting older, I am more emboldened to directly speak my mind to those who I personally believe have offended me or inconvenienced me or upset me in some way.

Oh fuck off.

Exponentially more. I’ve turned into a cantankerous, old man.

Definitely less irritable and more patient, although I can role-play Xtreme Irascibility at the drop of a hat. I've been actively working on becoming more detached from things that upset me greatly in the past, such as unpleasant news stories or RL assholery, because that leaves more emotional energy for positive things.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's more to do with experience than age in itself for me I think.  If I'm new in a workplace I don't feel justified in being irritable and expressing it if something seems wrong/annoying/stupid to me, because there could be some method to the madness I'm not aware of yet. I'm very experienced in my workplace now so I'm very quick to tell people to fuck off if I'm being requested to do something I shouldn't have to or stopping other people if they're doing something stupid.
It was the same with driving, when I first started and someone honked their horn my first thoughts would be "What have I done wrong?"  Now my thoughts are usually "What the fuck is your problem?"

I think my irritability has remained fairly stable and I am more likely to feel justified in expressing it now after having a bit of life experience.

The exceptions to my irritability remaining stable are things that do cause me to get moody, lack of sleep, lack of food, last minute plan changes, (when I used to smoke) lack of nicotine, being alone for too long, being indoors for too long.  Also that brief teenage period of around 12-16, I was pretty moody then.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I find myself interacting with people less and less over the years. I have no baseline for comparison. I'm not noticably different than when I was younger, other than that I tolerate waiting less gracefully.
