51% of scientist in the USA, the most religious developed country. And 51% believing in God or a higher power does not imply that 51% think the origin of DNA is intelligent design. In the Academy of Science (the 'best scientists'), it's more like 10% who believe in God or a higher power, btw.

It can certainly be conceptualized but there would still be no reason to ever believe in it... even if an apparently godly being showed up. It just comes back to "Who designed the designer?" Out of all of the versions of "your religion", how do you know you picked the right one?

It doesn't matter if it doesn't matter. It's still not "God" if the designer evolved naturally or if the designer itself had a designer.
It's not about being pragmatic. It's about being accurate. For all intents and purposes it may as well be deemed "God" but that's not the same thing as it actually being God. A being outside the universe is not something that there can ever be any empirical evidence of.

I'm not looking to comment on the general coherency or accuracy of god ideas, merely showing that if we accepted the god proposition for the purposes of discussion..that would in no way change the facts of biology. The two would have to be reconciled -together-, as co-equal truths.
Any given believer has to find a way to accept the reality of how we got here, the reality of biology's independence from the divine. "God". lol.essentially, must have been a character wandering the cosmos and happened upon us....immediately thinking:
"That;s a nice house, be a shame if something happened to it."
