To negotiate with reality suggest he is willing to give something, in the hope that reality would be take pity and give something back. It would be a vain hope but it at least shows the beginning of humility.
He is unwilling to give, and think reality would be daunted by his “faith” and capitulate, when reality can not be bothered with noticing his existence, much less his “faith”.

He's willing to give up any shred of credibility or dignity he has. That's something, lol. It may not seem like it, but ignore the pious theater and consider the possibility that creationists find it just as difficult as anyone else would to keep saying these things they say. Sure, sure, they may believe that somehow...someway....... the whole bit can be reconciled - but it doesn't escape them how much of a longshot that would be.

Interesting that CDF is sprinting as fast as he can away from his abhorrent immoral beliefs.
I find it quite revealing that it takes religion to make one abdicate one's own morals in favour of none at all.
