RE: Bare minimum for belief in Christianity.
One on one with one of the big three .. and no burning bushes or voices in my head or appearances in a pug dog's butt. Got to be real face time, and not a conference call either. He/They can call my people to set it up if interested.

Apparently to be a True Xtian you have to be stupid enough to fall for this.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/05/televan...r-bottles/

Quote:Televangelist wants to equip Christians for the end times with a pack of $150 ‘extreme survival’ water bottles

Quote:He also told people that to be equipped for the last days they will need to purchase condos in his community and order a $150 water bottle.

I'm sure some of our local morons have a garage full of them already!

You;ve seen the end times food buckets.....right?

Im not even remotely kidding. Evangelists are fleecing their flocks five gallons at a time.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So I believe there may have been a Jew on a stick, I've been baptised Greek orthodox, I follow the 10 commandments ( for the most part). Am I a Christian whether I like it or not?

There was no mention of skywizards, so that's optional I s'pose...cool.
No mention of visiting one of the corporate establishments every Sunday...cool.

Any cherry picking cafe Christians here wish to tell me that I'm not a Christian?
Of course they're all going to now cherry pick what it means to be a Christian based on what they do.
Because every Christian is their own personal perfect representative of what it means to be a Christian.
Cool... Do I have to buy candles but?

Let's say you don't want to deny any scientific facts. About anything. (Why would you anyway?)
But you still need that extra life that baby Jesus has on offer?

Is that possible? Call it "caffeine free diet Christianity" or whatever...
In reality, almost all Christians use modern technology, believe in medical cures, disregard everything in the bible that conflicts with their modern "good person" lifestyle etc,
so their beliefs are strictly of a philosophical nature anyway.

Can these people still be called Christians? If THEY call themselves Christians, then they ARE Christians. Who are we or other Christians to judge them?
Every Christian cherry picks, so there must be lots of pots and kettles about. Especially between competing schisms.

EG, belief in heaven might sound silly but is it technically breaking any rules of the cosmos?
Maybe shoving your beliefs in the gaps of science technically does not need or involve any mental gymnastics ...because ...well, we just never know, do we? Dunno

I think the god of the gaps WAS invented for theists to sleep easy at night. Just like in a court of law, YOU CAN'T PROVE ME WRONG, THEREFORE NOT GUILTY of believing anything false.

Like most religions, Christianity is based on the resurrection of the dead.  The dead do not rise except in fairy tales and movies. As Paul said, if the dead not not rise then Jesus didn't rise.  We know for a fact that the physical dead do not rise.  Therefore, by Paul's own criteria the Jesus myth is worthless.

Almost everyone except atheists "believe" in Christ (Yeshua/Jesus).  Muslims believe in him as a prophet.  Jews claim that they killed him using 5 different methods of execution.  But not one single person in human history has ever had faith in him to do what he said anyone who had faith in him could do.  So he lied or he's imaginary.

On one side of the scales we have just the belief in Jesus as The Son of The Lord God Almighty, on the other side of the scales, if you will, we have TENS of THOUSANDS of Christian schisms and unaffiliated congregations with absolutely NO doctrinal oversight.

I'm finding the assertion that ONLY belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of The Lord God Almightyis required is MASSIVELY belied by all those schisms.

There are things, confusing and muddlesome things, in Christianity WELL WORTH a schism beyond mere belief in Jesus, it don't add up. It don't add up at all.

PRAISE BANEEMY !!!
