At what age do children stop getting a free pass?  What's the biblical support for that?

I'd actually like to see the Christians answer that one in the debate  Smile

Genesis 2:7 is where the line is drawn. Descendants of Adam are condemned with their first breath.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Is there an exact age for that? I'm not aware of any Biblical support for an "exact age" when children stop "getting a free pass". I just pointed out where Jesus said that unless a person is converted and humbles himself as a little child they shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven....and that whosoever shall humble himself as a little child the same shall be called the greatest in Heaven. What would you say the "cut off age" is? I'm going to say, from what I've read and studied, that every person is different in personality, maturity, understanding, and in natural abilities. I'm going to guess that as a child grows and matures into the teen years and into adulthood, and when they become fully aware and understanding of the differences between right and wrong, and the choices they make to commit wrong, then they start becoming accountable for their actions. That's my guess. What would you say the Biblical support for the "cut off" age is for when children stop getting a "free pass"?

Mess with original sin and the point of Jesus sacrifice to placate Himself becomes meaningless. Fundamental pillar of the faith it is.

Of course, these days, everything is on the table. I remain A-FUCKING-MAZED how much theology has been renegotiated with God/Jesus/Holy Ghost just during my lifetime. Hard to hear the phrase "Eternal and Changeless God" with out chuckling now. Probably something God Himself is embarrassed about . . . .

There is no cut off age, neither does the bible state one. Everyone is taken on an individual basis based on how much they know, their motives, etc. All things that establish a person's culpability.

^said it much better than I did.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

See ?

Heresy in 1965 is God's word in 2018.

What are you talking about, Vor?

Every Christian here is saying children don't go to Hell, so I don't get why you keep telling us should think they do.

It's not up to me.

God decided. That's how immortal souls work (period) As they (used) to say: The Book !! The Blood !!! The Blessed Hope !!!

You're free to disagree, but be honest to yourself and the rest of your congregants and announce a revelation or something and start your own church. Overhauling the one you're in to suit yourself isn't how it works.

Seriously, do NOT mess with original sin. So very very little is left of Bible religion as it is.

My strong desire is that AF instills rational thought in believers and they conclude on the facts theism is wrong. Inducing apostasy, blasphemy and/or heresy in believers is NOT the function, IMO, of AF.

There was no renegotiating on our part, Reverend. It was God, not us, who established both covenants and then said that He would do away with one to establish a new one. In the Old Testament God foretold that He was going to do just that.

Quote: Jeremiah 31:31-34  (KJV)
31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

I would just drop it, AT. It's no use. We've already all said we don't think kids go to Hell. If anyone wants to keep insisting that Christianity says they do, that's their problem.
