While we are on the subject of health care.... in the midst of yet another school shooting thread... no wonder our health care system is going broke.

The typical gunshot victim can expect to rack up over $5,000 in emergency room costs, according to the study. If the injury is severe enough to warrant a hospital stay, the average cost balloons to nearly $100,000. And over 40 percent of gunshot victims lack insurance to pay for their care.

Sweden doesn't have nearly as much diversity as the US. Certain things are more complicated here because we are a much larger nation with many more different types of people. What works for them isn't necessarily going to work for us.

Yeah Sweden is so poor that it doesn't even have Tent Cities. Swedes are so poor that they don't have collapsing public school buildings, don't have school shootings, don't have poison in their drinking water, don't have higher mortality rate of newborns and actually have longer life expectancy.

Social security tax, Then a 25% consumption tax on top of that for Sweden.

I think I would rather work, and choose where my money goes; rather than the government.

A lot of Americans who don't like social programs are against them because black people might benefit.

Have you ever noticed that it's generally white kids who shoot up schools?  Maybe they get nervous in a diverse setting?  It'll be interesting to research their family backgrounds for Jim Crow involvement.

Of course they could just limit the profits of those in health care and insurance. Doctors play a few less rounds of golf a year, and we have cheaper health coverage!

You see the problem with that is that ill people cant earn money because they are ill. 

And of course you have managed to make health care a business in the US when it should be a service.

If I had had to pay for all the treatment we had on the NHS as a family I would be destitute.

You understand that the tax raise would be to fund an alternate public health care system, in which most services would be free or little cost, Yeah? It would save the young healthy "I don't wanna pay for other people's health care " crowd an exorbitant amount of money and people would not have to worry about being bankrupt because they can't afford bills that KEEP THEM ALIVE. That's more important than the cost, I hope you see that. It's the most fucked up thing that people are okay with other people dying or losing every cent they have because of unaffordable medical costs when there are systems in place in so many countries that have successfully prevented that. Boggles my mind.

All people hear is "TAX RAISE" but for some reason "NO INSURANCE PREMIUMS" doesn't get the same amount of traction. You would save money. Without a doubt. I blame Reagan. His philosophy completely duped the middle class for the next fuckin century.

But for-profit health insurers are the fucking middle man. They have to make profits for their shareholders, off of sick people. The people who need health care the most are not profitable. That's the worst possible system.
