With science, the search for the truth begins... a puzzle presents itself, and scientists look for more information and conduct analyses to explain the anomalous finding.

But Ham said the research affirms what Scripture says about life’s origins. Creationists believe the catastrophic event was the flood.  

In other words, "Oh boy! Oh boy! Something that science hasn't settled quite yet! No need to continue searching for the truth. We have the answer already! The castostrophic event was the flood spoken of in the Bible. That's what happened 6,000 years... er... I mean 200,000 years ago (close enough...). When a puzzle presents itself, it's time to stop searching for the truth and start assuming that our holy scripture is vindicated.

These are the "crazy" ones.  By the way, I was going to open a new OP (before seeing yours) on these guys.  Isn't it somewhat ironic how they "appeal" to Science and yet reject it at the same time?  Perhaps there is hope for them??
