I'd need a valid intelligent comment from you before I'd begin a discussion Coco.

phys.org Wrote:Which brings us back to our question: why did the overwhelming majority of species in existence today emerge at about the same time?

...

Environmental trauma is one possibility, explained Jesse Ausubel, director of the Program for the Human Environment at The Rockefeller University.

"Viruses, ice ages, successful new competitors, loss of prey—all these may cause periods when the population of an animal drops sharply," he told AFP, commenting on the study.

"In these periods, it is easier for a genetic innovation to sweep the population and contribute to the emergence of a new species."

But the last true mass extinction event was 65.5 million years ago when a likely asteroid strike wiped out land-bound dinosaurs and half of all species on Earth. This means a population "bottleneck" is only a partial explanation at best.

In other words, "We are studying this phenomenon and looking for possible explanations. Conventional wisdom doesn't do an adequate job of explaining what the gene survey is telling us." With science, the search for the truth begins... a puzzle presents itself, and scientists look for more information and conduct analyses to explain the anomalous finding.

Christian Headlines Wrote:But Ham said the research affirms what Scripture says about life’s origins. Creationists believe the catastrophic event was the flood.

In other words, "Oh boy! Oh boy! Something that science hasn't settled quite yet! No need to continue searching for the truth. We have the answer already! The castostrophic event was the flood spoken of in the Bible. That's what happened 6,000 years... er... I mean 200,000 years ago (close enough...). When a puzzle presents itself, it's time to stop searching for the truth and start assuming that our holy scripture is vindicated.

Gets turned into "Evolution doesn’t expect the vast majority of our species to have arrived at the same time, nor does it expect species to have these clear genetic boundaries,” he said. “But this is what we’d expect in a biblical worldview -- indeed it’s what creationists have been saying all along, although their timeframe of 100,000–200,000 years is inflated, due to evolutionary assumptions.”

My guess is a precursor/forefather to apes and humans.

These are the "crazy" ones.  By the way, I was going to open a new OP (before seeing yours) on these guys.  Isn't it somewhat ironic how they "appeal" to Science and yet reject it at the same time?  Perhaps there is hope for them??
