Dr. Francis Collins and Dr. Ken Miller understand evolution probably better than anyone here on this forum, and they are both practicing Christians. And I don't think their acceptance is rife with caveats, or using novel definitions of common language.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Really? Hmm. Fair enough! Most Christians I've encountered don't properly understand it, I should have said.

Two does not a plenty make.  Wink

I wish that plenty would follow their lead..but, to the plenty, those guys are heretics.

Though...on that note......

Quote:EXPLOREFAITH: You have said that DNA is “God’s language.” Do you mean that in a literal, or more metaphorical, sense?

FRANCIS COLLINS: A little of both. I believe that the universe was created by God with the specific intention of giving rise to intelligent life. Given that we observe DNA to be the information molecule of all living things, one can regard therefore it as the “Logos” that God has used to speak life into being. Don’t misunderstand me, it is clear that the process of evolution by natural selection over hundreds of millions of years is the “how” that explains the marvelous diversity of life. But that doesn’t provide the answer to “why.” I think God provides that answer.

so..you know...meh-ish......perhaps someone could find the hundreds of millions of years long campaign of intentional creation in evolutionary theory that collins is referring to, here, for me? Collins, brilliant as he is..believes in evolution™.

IMO, it takes a brilliant mind to square that business away so neatly. The dummies can't manage it, so they're always in a state of, "durr, where are the crocoducks? Checkmate atheist!".
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yeah but then they think that their stupid fucking god started it.  They wouldn't be theists if they weren't infantile at heart.
