On Hell and Forgiveness

Just be forthright about it and admit that it makes you feel good inside to tell someone they’re wrong.

Theists can call us sinners, as though that's not verbal abuse.  We call them delusional, and they're allowed to play the persecution card?  Get your priorities straight.

It’s absolutely name calling.  As in...you’re calling them delusional, lol. It’s an insult.  Insults are hardly productive.

Who said that was okay? And, what should my priorities be, exactly?

What you want them to be. Just don't call me out on revealing an emotional manipulator like CL.

I'm rubber, you're glue....That's a serious grade school mentality.

Just because you find what they do to be personally insulting doesn't make it ok if you do it.

Anyway, this was personal.  She specifically said that term was bothering her, and you persisted.  That make it a special kind of mean to continue.

I know that it's hard not to retaliate in kind when you feel attacked, but it is completely counterproductive.

Ask yourself, what is your goal?  If it's just to make yourself better in a monkey flinging poo sort of way, fine.  Success!  But if it is to try and actually get people to think about things differently and listen to what you have to say, then learn to bite your tongue and keep the mean thoughts to yourself.

What you want them to be.  Just don't call me out on calling out an emotional manipulator like CL.

Hey, you get back what you put into a discussion with another human being.  It’s not about emotion.  I’m merely pointing out the demonstrable fact that if you are looking to change someone’s mind about their religious beliefs, calling them mentally ill is not going to get you over your goal line, lol.

Hardly, I'm not using "delusional" as a reactionary tactic. I'm using it because it is the truth in relation to theists.

Perhaps you're the one who's mind is in grade school by using that illogical analogy.

Because logic has worked so well on the religiously minded who display delusional tendencies through their beliefs.

Well, if all you’ve got left in your bag is verbal attacks, maybe you need to take some time to re-pack your tool kit.

It does not negate the fact that calling someone something hurtful (true or not) is counterproductive to discussion.

There can be truths that you can learn to phrase differently or in a more productive way.

For instance, if a person is being a retarded asshole, simply calling them that (even though it is true) is unlikely to cause the change in behavior I'm looking for, and will probably actually cause them to double down.

Don't attack.  Discuss.

And you're misusage of what constitutes "verbal attack" is not in any way logically convincing.

We'll just have to agree to disagree at this point.

Calling a delusional person delusional is not an attack. It is referring to the truth.
