Ask a nomad

Ask a nomad
I haven't lived anywhere for more than three months in the last 10 years. I am full time nomad. I also hitchhiked all the way to southern Argentina in 2011/12 from Las Vegas. I've been writing about it here: https://atheistforums.org/thread-54913.html

So I'll also take questions on that trip or hitchhiking.

Don't you worry about being picked up by a Freddy Kruger type?

Will you describe the companionship you have had for the last ten years? I'm curious if you often feel lonely, miss family and friends from your starting point. Any interesting friendships along the way? Pets? (Dogs, raccoons, ect?)

How do you support yourself?

Has there been a moment which made you, at least fleetingly, think "no, no way, I'm done with this lifestyle." ?

Do you ever wander into a town and get into a 'rambo first blood' type of situation

I hitchhiked from Mackay to Perth once, which was 4700kms (about 3000 miles) in only five days.
Wouldn't have been as dangerous as your trek, although I did get chased by a giant kangaroo near Perth. :-)

From what I've read, your main reason for this nomadic existence is climbing.
Have you had any other passions that drive you?
For example, scenery, local cuisine, local people, climbing people or just an overwhelming desire to be free?
Do you think you'll eventually settle down, grab a missus and have kids?
What is your book going to be called?

That reminds me of when I got chased by a water buffalo... good times.  Smile

I've been chased by a bull when I had to walk across a paddock to get some water out of the trough for my radiator.
Came back with a quarter of a bucket's worth.
At least my three aboriginal travelling companions had a good laugh at the silly, city, white boy doing country stuff.
