Stupid gun owner. You don't transport a loaded weapon uncased in a vehicle with one in the pipe and the safety off.

The only time I do that is when it' s strapped to my hip.

On the way to town tonight, saw a bigger herd 1/ 2 mile to the west. Grabbed the binocs, pulled over and watched for a minute...  Counted 14, and think more were in the treeline.

What my nephew ( Army) calls " a target rich environment".


Opening day is Thursday.

Going to buy the new freezer today.

The single shot I' m using is rather stodgy, without great lines.


Perhaps next year when I get the 450 Bushmaster upper on my AR15.

I wish you all luck in your hunts!

The best steak I've ever had was Elk. A friend of ours in AK had bagged one and donated most to the natives.

I miss living up there. The game and fish were simply the best. I've never had a similarly satisfying salmon since.

When I was stationed at Kodiak, a couple of the crew turned over a couple elk they had bagged, to feed the enlisted in the barracks......

I ate elk steaks till I thought I' d grow antlers...
