What makes you get up and leave?

Sunk cost fallacy is throwing good money after bad. Recycling character and themes is to milk previous creativity rather than promote new creativity. Recycling character is sound commercial practice and not sunk cost fallacy. However, sound commercial practice can kiss my ass. I want the writers to have talent and work it hard for my money.

So with rare exceptions I spit on sequels and reboots.

Unless you are looking for new kind of birds.

The writers and producers would be plenty happy if the old birds keep buying tickets to their movies.

All I can say is, that's what bothers me. If it doesn't bother you, that's fine too.

A Hollywood movie where the bad guy has an English accent. Cliche-tastic, and you just know the film's gonna be shite (99% of the time (a notable exception being Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith IMO)) because it's built to please the audience, not convey a narrative where disbelief can possibly be suspended.

Too much mushy stuff
Too much cute stuff.
Romcoms
Has Adam Sandler or Nicholas Cage in it.
Is by Tarantino/ Abrams (exception is Star Wars but that's simply for completion)

Agreed on the sandler thing. He's about as funny as finding out you have to lose both balls to testicular cancer, then coming home to find your family has been slaughtered!

He's the guy who only knows how to play the character with anger management issues, right?

For me it could be very early on. If the movie title had "Saw" or "Transformers" in it, I'd be out of there quickly.

However, if the title wasn't a tip-off, and I waited through the intro material, excessive gratuitous violence or sadistic suffering would be enough to make me seek the exit.

If I didn't know the movie I'd probably not be there to begin with.

A theater full of ankle bitters is a good sign that I shouldn't be there. Or all/mostly women, no offense women.

If I'm not hooked in the first 20 minutes I'm either leaving or sleeping.

When I was single I would go to a theater, and ask for a ticket to the next feature starting. I didn't even look at the ticket. When the picture started I knew what I was going to see, at least the name. After that it was up to the company to get me to stay.

What! He’s a beautiful man, though.

For me it would have to be sadism. I can’t see torture. How someone can sit through two hours of people skinning and chopping people is beyond me.
