There has been some talk that the illegal occupation of Syria by the United States (and Turkey too) is not about natural resources. Simply stating the oil output of Syria compared to other countries is not a very helpful way to look at the situation. Let me draw your attention to the proposed so-called "Friendship Pipeline" (the Iran–Iraq–Syria pipeline). Now let me bring you attention to the proposed Qatar-Turkey Pipeline.

What you have is two competing gas pipelines that want to go through Syria. One proposed by allies of the United States (the Sunnis) and other proposed by enemies of the United States and Iraq (allied with the other Shia goverments in the region). Qatar and Turkey are pretty chummy at the moment, and it would make sense that Turkey wants Qatari gas.

Saudi, Qatar and Turkey may not be as friendly with each other as they used to be when the Syrian war started (so the Saudis may not appreciate a Qatari pipeline going through their country), but at least the Iranian plans got scuppered...right? After all, it's an open secret now than Israel and Saudi are rather chummy at this point, and the both of them have a deep hatred for the Iranians. The United States hates Iran too for some reason, and, thus, they have turned a blind eye to the Saudis supporting DAESH and other terrorists so far (don't forget that fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi). It would appear that the war in Syria is about fossil fuels after all. Or this all just a coincidence?

He's doing this as a distraction just like the troops at the border crap. The Pentagon was blindsided by this crap.  The fucker is desperate to take attention away from the fact he has 17 investigations into he and his circle and family.

I have heard that he's apparently doing this on the say-so of Erdogan; apparently, it looks like he's more than willing to change his policies on a dime just on the say-so of other autocratic dictators. Anyone else want to spam the inboxes of other autocrats to tell Trump that his border wall is a fucking stupid idea? He clearly gives more of a shit about what other dictators have to say than the people he's supposed to answer to.
