Wood. All the black plastic stuff doesn't appeal to me. My k10/22t has a laminated stock, which came from the factory. I don't care for it much, and I also would like the stock to be about 1-1/2" longer to accommodate my ape-long arms. I have an 8/4 black walnut plank I picked up at the wood store when shopping for something else. It has crazy wild grain at one end. I bought it because I really liked that grain. It would make a really nice gun stock- wouldn't need checkering, either.

My dad was never a fan of the 10/22 - for the same reason - it feels like a toy to his simian length frame.

So we bought him the 10/22 RIFLE version. Stainless/ walnut - a full length rifle they made for a time. He said it' s the best birthday present ever....

Now he' s a fan.

-lol, that's what got me into custom stocks and bowyery.  My kids have a running zoo joke about daddy visiting his cuzzos in the orangutan exhibit.  You cant buy a shelf bow outside of 27 1/2 inch draw, but I have a 38 inch target draw, and a 62 inch volley off the chest for rings.  Perpetually choked up on production guns and bows to the point that it impacts my accuracy.  Great for long rifle season though!  Lead arm's only 10 inches off-muzzle, lol.  

You can get extenders and a pad rest, drill em in.  It'll accommodate and save you alot of shoulder.  It's just flat out nicer to have something made to fit, especially with shotties where the long-armed are constantly shooting low.

It's a carbine, but deadly accurate. I can get slugs through the paper in almost the same hole in a given set of bulls on one sheet. Admittedly, that's only at 50 feet, but that's about 1.26 MoA if they punch through side by side.

1. I had a Remington bolt action that our adopted " grandpa" - a German machinist immigrant built for 200 meter trench shooting. ( my brother in law now owns it) They shot in 2 meter deep, 200 meter long trenches to reduce windage. This guy could bench a three shot group under a dime at 200 meters. 
   

His custom scope use spider web for the reticle. You had to train your eye, just to see the cross hairs. 

And he did it in the 1950' s.....

Good is, as good gets. Ya just gotta be able to do it.

That's some mighty fine shooting. I'm still working on my marksmanship. I still twitch more than I like. I used to be able to cover 5 shots with a dime from a bolt-action .22 with open sights, but only at 50 feet. This was a rifle at a Boy Scout camp in '95, with a wallowed-out bore. Now I'm 20+ years older and I hadn't shot in over five years when I started in again last year. All this is bench rest, btw. My rifle is also semi-auto, so there is a small handicap to accuracy because of that, I'm told. I should have been patient and ordered the bolt action version.

you know you can get a 10/22 drop in bolt for the ar-15 after that all you need is the special clip and you are firing 10/22 out of your ar-15. well pop the pins drop the bolt and put in the 10/22 bolt and then the clip, but you get the idea.

Yup. They also make a similar setup for 1911s - preplacing the upper and magazine.

I never been a fan of such things. They really took a hit on these units when 22 LR became all but unavailable.

Is kinda neat though. The multiple caliber thing is quite popular in countries where they limit ownership - or bringing firearms into the country - like South Africa. A guy brings in two rifles - and parts for 6 different calibers. Then he' s ready for everything from porcupine to rhino..
