Liam Neeson: Rape, Revenge, and Race Relations

The few murderous fantasies I've had have been specific to certain individuals I despise, and it wasn't so strong as to want to act upon them.

Maybe you should try spending your formative years in a toxic environment, anywhere between being the victim of school-sanctioned bullying during an era where school shootings start to gain traction (just like yours truly) or growing up in an area as it becomes embroiled in a sectarian conflict for about three decades. If you do that, that urge to kill randomly might at least make sense.

Then you're obviously just not following the story, but still choosing to comment on it. Watch his GMA interview. He states why it was wrong EXPLICITLY. Whether or not you choose to take his word for it, I suppose is up to you. But there's no real reason to believe he's lying.

If he would've said he was looking for an Irishman or a Turkish man, would the outrage be the same? For some reason I doubt it. Neeson also said he asked what height, age, weight etc. the man was, so it wasn't solely about race.

If we can't even talk openly about racist/prejudice thoughts, there's no point in ever expecting any kind of progress in race relations. People who love to be professionally offended make these conversations even harder to have than they already are.

Also, there are plenty of people of color speaking up in defense of Neeson, yet sheltered white PC leftists want to crucify the guy, mostly because they want to virtue signal and show everyone how outraged they are.

Also, I put the audio of the interview where he made that infamous anecdote and explained how he felt remorse after about a week or so of that horseshit, and he recalled it with horror that he ever thought that way, in the OP. If he made that statement after he had been caught out, there would be a good reason to question his sincerity, but this was shit he brought up on his own initiative and he was still ashamed that he thought like that.

Also, I think it's a bit disingenuous to treat the backlash as solely the product of white liberals. Just look at the drubbing Terry Crews got as he defended (admittedly, Crews does not like the word "defended", as he still condemns the action itself unreservedly, but applauds him for being open about it and likely to have reformed himself) Liam Neeson by his fellow black brothers.

Or where such an urge, properly channeled into a state sponsored avenue, signifies virtue rather than vice. I get where Grand is coming from, though, not everyone can muster that up..and not everyone who says they can actually does when the reaper comes calling. I've knocked down a few targets for other guys on the line in my time.

That's it's white libs, hur dur, behind the backlash is just rightwing race traitor fetishism of the sort that's recently infected the left and given trolls endless cause to shit post on boards like our own. Gratz, post racial world, lol. I came here, years ago now..to get away from that..but they were always going to find and game us, and..frankly, where here before I came.

I was just making the point clear that we don't all have that urge in response to what Shell B said in one of her posts. Then again I might've misunderstood her.

Also, funny you should bring up sectarian conflict considering the region I was born in. And for the record, I've had to deal with bullying and social ostracization myself as a child. You are not alone in this, so please do not assume I've lived a happy carefree life as a child.

Most people are far less violent than the currently popular appraisal of people.  It takes intentional conditioning to make it otherwise. We really are just goofy, friendly, accidentally nasty apes by nature.

Of course it would be the same, but whether he would have had those thoughts towards those groups is something to ponder about.

And it doesn't matter whether he also consider height and such, it was still a racist attitude. And that's assuming he wasn't lying here to save face.

Progress in race relations means not only being open about our racist thoughts but rather also about realizing that these racist attitudes really do hurt people and isn't just about ones struggles with one's condition.

Don't be such a sensitive snowflake. If it's so hard to be real and honest about what's being discussed in this conversation, then go play a relaxing video game instead.

Lol, gotta love the "a few black people agree with me" argument. It shows just how lacking in insight you are.

Look..Grand, anyone who says they've never thought about killing niggers is just virtue signalling.   That's not racists consoling themselves..... it's just #truth.

Wacky

So, you're doing exactly what I thought you would and choosing to not take Neeson's word for it because he's addressed everything you're saying here. This is interesting because if he really wanted to conceal that he's racist, he never would've told the story in the first place.

Bolded by me.

How ironic.

This whole "why should we believe a word Neeson says" attitude is hilariously stupid because, once again, you only need to think it through for another couple seconds to realize that Neeson could've simply opted to not tell that story if he wanted to remain some closeted racist. Then you tell me I lack insight. Hilarious.

No racist would ever say racist shit thinking that it established that they totally weren't a racist.   Impossibru!

The long and short of it is that Neeson shared an anecdote that firmly establishes that he just might be the mythical racist golem everyone..even racists, take pains to avoid being seen as. That's a stink that doesn't come off, and a particularly bad look for a person who's livelihood depends on how he looks to other people. We could turn this into some epic battle over pc..but guess what - just makes you look like a racist twatwaffle too. Your call, just like it was his.
