I was thirteen and more into trying to move stuff with my mind like the lensmen.

Have you read the saga of the exiles? it has similar themes.

YAY Doc Smith!!!!!--Galaxy Primes too?

I came to sci fi when I was 18, via  Edgar Rice Burroughs John  Carter Of Mars series--then read a whole heap of back issues of various sci fi magazines**** That lead me to buy sci fi books. Always second hand. Gave away my entire collection, around 800 books, about 10 years ago when, I realised I was never going to read them again.

**that was where I first came across the notion of"God was an alien". In the late 1960's, I think 'a Russian scientist" wrote an article about "The Spaceship of Ezekiel"

Never read "Galaxy Primes". I was way into Heinlein, Clarke, Azimov, Niven, Pournelle, etc. Hard scifi. I read Analog and Fantasy and Science Fiction. There was a waiting list for those when I was stationed on a ship. Reading material is scarce in the PG.

Much the same when I was stationed in Malaysia.(Australian army)

Pornography was very popular. Also violent soft porn by Kyle Onstott and Lance Horner. Me? it took me a month to read "Memories Dreams and Reflections" The autobiography of Carl Jung.

At home. Also read all of the authors you mentioned, and many more.  Loved Heinlein. Really wanted a vehicle like "Gay Deceiver".
Had  several favourite writers over the years. Two that stick in my mind are  Philip Jose Farmer and Michael Moorcock.

THE book was "Dune".The first one, the others by Herbert, not so much. The ones written after his death are OK, but not brilliant, imo.

So the poster leaked or something

No Leia? I guess that power ranger is Kerri Russel? And Kylo got his helmet back - JJ seems not happy with some decisions made by Johnson.

To be fair, after Carrie Fisher died they did say they wouldn't use CGI to keep her in the movie.

And I have no idea who the chick in purple is. And if Jar Jar Abrams has truly armed C3P0 with Chewie's bowcaster, he's an even bigger idiot than I think he is.

Though I suspect this may be misinformation.

(February 26, 2019 at 4:21 pm)Fake Messiah Wrote: When it comes to this trilogy why even bother watching considering that the "Empire" is again as big as in previous movies - as if those movies didn't affect them at all. So even if good wins this time what is stopping the "empire" to just appear again without any explanation?

And when it comes to The Last Jedi, in particular, imagine what this movie could have been about, like they could have explored perhaps the origins of the force; first Jedis; answer what the heck are Siths and thoroughly explore the SW mythology - and isn't that what they should be doing in supposedly penultimate SW movie? If not now then when?

But no. It rather seems like the makers of that movie were not interested of continuing the story but the business side of the movie: like "it's so trendy to make movies in Dubrovnik so we have to make at least part of the movie there" and also obliging actors contracts, thus filling the movie with pointless action adventures for which nobody cared. I mean, for starters, why did they even look for Luke in TFA considering that he practically played no role in TLJ? I mean he fought Kylo, but for what? So that those other people can escape through the other side. Facepalm

And the worst thing is that they know that the audience wants to see the stuff I mentioned earlier (like exploring SW mythology) because they featured in the trailer the scene of a first Jedi temple - but that was just that. It was only for a trailer. Just like the dead Ewoks and the Knights of Ren.

I mean I really don't understand. Are they that retarded that they're leading on audience like that or is it just greed because at the time the director of TLJ also planned another trilogy so he didn't want to "waste material"?
1. The Empire never died bits of it just ran to the out rim to hid and rebuild

2.The origins of the force developed with the origin of life. As for the Jedi and Sith are descends of the original force users who used it in perfect balance. But then they fought a war against a dark side worshipping  race called the Rakata after winning the force users divided into two camps who waged a war on their own . One became dogmatic in the light the other in the dark . The Dark force users lost and were exiled were they would encounter a savage warlike species called the Sith. They would conquer them and embrace their savage culture as their own and build an empire. The Jedi on the other hand would become reclusive nomads till joining the republic .

3. As for Luke this was clearly about ending his story and was less about saving a few people then serving as an inspiration to others

4. Most hardcore fans already know this stuff

They should have stopped at the original series. New hope and empire were great (Jedi was...average, but in comparison to the new ones was great too), but we all know with a well loved franchise you can’t leave well enough alone.

I think the best thing to come out of the Star Wars Universe, aside 4,5 and 6, are the games, specifically KOTOW and the two Jedi games with Kyle Katarn. Those were and are amazing fun to play.

Prequels were obviously a disaster, episode 7 was actually pretty good, all the others since then have been dross, in my opinion. Rouge one was dull, solo was *meh* though admittedly enjoyable in parts, and 8 was just perplexing.

We've had lots of eye-candy from the add-on movies. I'm amused by them, so keep them coming.

There are few more leaks like Lando

I guess it was about time considering that there was a character in "Phantom Menace" who was supposed to be his father. I guess it's his turn to say something wise and then drop dead.

There are some other new characters

[Image: 02-j.jpg][Image: 03-z.jpg]

Zorii - Zorro? I bet you that is Kerri Russel. Which is kind of a downer because when it comes to female characters they're supposed to have some interesting haircut and I expected that her character will have half of her head like Princes Leia in New Hope while other side of the head shaved

And Ray in white

Finally getting married - eh? Probably to herself because she is so proficient, independent and can do everything herself that she even takes the male role in the marriage
